Update for Max

Hello, fans of magnificent Max!

I am happy to report that in this beautiful month of June, our handsome friend finds things in his life status quo. When it comes to Max, this is a good thing. Max has had no health issues, no emotional or behavior changes of concern, and is eating, drinking, and sleeping well, just as a healthy cat should. Of course, we are thrilled to bring you this news, but from a cat correspondent’s standpoint, it leaves me in a little dilemma: what do I write about?

When faced with this challenge, I usually go back one year, and see what Max was up to at that time. I enjoy taking these trips down Memory Lane and sharing those memories with you who love him so much.

Many things about our beloved Max have not changed. Though he has seen many roommates come and go, one thing remains constant when it comes to other cats: Max either likes them, or he doesn’t. No in-between.

If he likes a cat, he may actually give her the opportunity to sit on his window perch, a position of authority and integrity that Max has been enjoying for years. Max will not generally sit on the perch at the same time as the other cat — with the significant exception of his current roommate Sammy, who he adores.

There is an old saying about “eyes being the windows to the soul,” and this is especially true of Max. Many a visitor to Tabby’s Place is smitten upon sighting Max in his window, gazing out nobly. In the words of Tabby’s Place’s Development Director, Angela, “There is something about Max that draws you in — into his gaze, into his room, and into his very deep and complicated heart.” Every time I go to Tabby’s Place, I am lost in those eyes. They beckon me with their beauty, intensity, and honesty.

So thank you, Max, for letting all of us who love you take life’s journey with you, and for always making us smile with our hearts.
You are blessed, indeed, to be a part of the Tabby’s Place family, and loved by so many.

Thank you, dearest sponsors, for your generous gifts each month that help Max to enjoy his magnificence. He hopes that someday, you can visit the sanctuary he calls home, and let those eyes work their magic on you, too!
