Max has resided with a number of roommates during his years at Tabby’s Place. I have known Max since his arrival, so I have been acquainted with all of his roommates, too. Max welcomed a newcomer this month, a sweet Himalayan named Sherpa.
A quiet cat sporting the long hair, blue eyes, and pointed coloring typical of his breed, Sherpa was initially crated during his introduction to the suite. This is how I found Sherpa that first day, resting comfortably on his blankets. He looked up at me with those big blue eyes, and time stood still for a moment, as I remembered another beloved Himalayan cat named Mozart.
Once upon a time, Mozart, who has since passed away, lived with Max, too. I looked again at Sherpa, then at our Max, up on his perch. His gentle nod assured me that yes, I was seeing a different cat than the one we both remembered so well.
Max continues to frequently find Sammy at his side. Sammy also likes to sit in the overstuffed chair adjacent to Max’s perch, allowing Max the time and space he needs to reaffirm his regality. The two remain devoted to each other.
If you have a chance, Max and friends would love to see you at Tabby’s Place for our small open house this weekend, May 17th & 18th, 12 to 5 pm both days. We’ll be providing free tours and refreshments in celebration of Back in Black. Throughout the month of May, Tabby’s Place is offering reduced adoption fees on our beautiful black cats (like Max’s roommate Eek), since they are adopted less frequently than their more colorful counterparts. If you stop by, Max will be sitting on his perch like a king.
Meantime, Max asked me to thank you for your generosity to him each month. Have a lovely May.
