RE: Qualification for Receipt of Easter Basket

Dear Max,

I oversee all decisions regarding who gets an Easter basket for good behavior. What a pleasure it is to receive your request. After examining your qualifications and reviewing your file, it has been determined that yes, you will receive a basket of goodies. This decision was based on the following criteria:

1). You are a sweet cat. Except for my selection of chocolates, it does not get any sweeter than you. This has not always been the case with your behavior towards other felines. I recognize your recent efforts to be the sweet cat I always knew you could be.

2). Those big black stripes on your shiny coat remind me of the long black strips of licorice of which I am so fond. Something about your big green eyes makes me think of green apple jelly beans (and I know you are the apple of your sponsors’ eyes).

3). You treat your correspondent Kim with love and tenderness. She appreciates this, and she looks forward to her visits with you. The sparkle in your eyes when she walks into your suite is very precious to her (we did consult about this basket).

4). You treat the Tabby’s Place staff and volunteers with the utmost respect and consideration. Need I say more here?

5). You have been coming through your checkups with flying colors. It is always a pleasure for our veterinary staff to examine you and pronounce you in tip-top shape. Keep up the good work!

Max, I am very proud of you. You have been working really hard on your social skills, welcoming Sammy to your suite and being kind to Eek. Sneaky, your other roomie, has recently relocated to another suite. This had more to do with Sneaky needing a change of scenery than any upset with you. For this, I am grateful.

However, I need to ask a favor. On Easter Eve, please pretend to be asleep when I enter your suite with the baskets. I will be watching to be sure you are snuggling with Sammy as usual, and hope that you can distract Eek, if awake, for just a few moments; after all, I am a rabbit….

Please share my best wishes with your kind sponsors for a wonderful holiday. Their gracious gifts each month help to surround you with love and care not just on Easter, but each and every day.
