Update for Max

Update for Max

Season’s Greetings, Max Maniax!

Can you believe there are only two weeks left in 2011?  Frankly, I’m still wondering where the summer went, which is  why I use “missed” to describe the year that soon was. I feel like I did less than half of what I set out to do; I only made it to two new baseball stadiums and did not travel anywhere near what I had hoped. I just need to make sure I plan and execute better in 2012, I suppose.

Well, if my 2011 was “missed”, Max’s 2011 was all about “change.” When last we left our fearless feline, “Hurricane” Bambi had come and gone, his buddy Captain  had gone to his forever home, and Max and his BFF Hooper were chilaxing in the window of Adoption Room #2.

That was last month. In the true spirit of 2011 “change”, circumstances for Max have changed yet again. Shortly after my last update, Hooper found his forever home. We were a bit nervous about how Max would react.  After all, Max really had never connected with another cat like he did with Hooper, and some cats don’t react well to losing their BFFs.

Max, however, took it in stride. In fact, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say Max was happy to see Hooper go, as his departure meant Max had Adoption Room #2 to himself. Max really seemed content being the king of Adoption Room #2.   Max was the sweet, affectionate boy I fell for two years ago, and I wasn’t the only one to notice. The vet staff noticed, too. They decided to cut his medication dosage to see how he’d tolerate it. He, of course, tolerated it like the champ he is.

But in the words of the late, great Billy Mays, “that’s not all!” While Max loved lording over his own empire, there’s no getting around the fact that space is at a premium at Tabby’s Place. So, after much deliberation, Max got two new roommates — Jennifer Ann and Impy, two sweet,  albeit timid girls. The question, therefore, became how would Max react to the girls, especially with the reduced medication dosage? With slight trepidation, the staff moved the girls in…and *knock wood* Max couldn’t care less. Personally, I think he’s afraid to act out, lest Santa leaves him coal in his stocking.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for your support of our crazy kitty throughout 2011. It was quite a year of change, and because of your generosity, Max seems to have made it through better than any of us could hope (with one short-lived road bump). Max and I wish you and your loved ones the most blessed of holiday seasons and a 2012 full of health, wealth, and happiness. I will “see” you next year!
