Kitten Season is not a novel phenomenon at Tabby’s Place. This marks our 11th spring, so you might think we’ve seen it all. But there’s something about 2014 that’s throwing our grizzled veteran staff for a loop: the sheer numbers of kittens. Early June found us with twenty-eight babies in all.
In order of appearance, they are:

Ivy, Primrose, Poppy and Iris (sweet little Violet/Daisy lookalikes serving their quarantine period in Intake)
Beamer (also completing his quarantine period)
Patrice, mother to the largest crew of kittens (Ted, Marshall, Marvin, Barney and Robin, pictured above), continues to take spectacular care of her cuties. Recently we have started giving Patrice some much needed time for herself during the day for which she is extremely grateful. Magnolia, Tabby’s Place’s youngest mama, is on hold and scheduled to go to her forever home.
As if their epic numbers were not enough, our youngest residents have provided no shortage of medical drama. Yoshi, brother of the late Abelia, Fringe and Forsythia, has been extremely fragile, repeatedly requiring catheterization and fluid support. Just when he seemed to be out of the woods and able to have his catheter removed, Yoshi began limping, and we found that he had a broken leg (likely from the very catheter that had helped to save his life). Thanks to our medical staff and his foster mama, he’s doing just fine now and recovering well.
The next crisis came for tiny Janice, a Siamese mix who appeared to be failing. Through the valiant efforts of our vet team and her foster mom, Janice made a remarkable recovery, but unfortunately developed ringworm and is now is isolation with her brother Beaker.
“Kitten season” is far from over. But with your caring generosity, Tabby’s Place will be able to love, nurture and care for all the sweet babies that come our way.
