Update for June

June’s Journal #9

Good day, cat lovers and sponsors. It has been quite a month since our last visit.

First, happy Valentine’s Day to all! I have so many valentines here at the sanctuary…all the staff, all the volunteers, and all my kitty friends in the community room and in the lobby and suites. How happy I am here because all of us get so much love and care that is it Valentine’s Day here every day.

Oh my, let me tell you how sick I was with that darn kitty flu!
I call it the kitty flu to distinguish it from that human flu bug that made so many people ill this year. I had the same symptoms….runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing….the doctor and staff call it a U.R.I., or upper respiratory infection, for us kitties. Call it what you will, it still made me sick and I had to have meds to make me better again. But I am okay now and am back to my regular self.

And thank goodness I am back to myself as this past week was full of surprises for me. First, Scribe came to visit me and it was about time! I had to chastise her for not coming sooner. But all is well now as she made up for lost time. (She told me she had some kind of virus that wiped her out for a few weeks, so I let her slide.) I was in my cat tree just relaxing when I saw her come into the community room. We had a wonderful visit.

She told me all about her month and gave me my massage, but she did my whole face and ears and back and neck and cheeks this time. I just loved it! She could tell I had just had a mani and pedi as my nails were short.
After about half an hour of chatting and getting my massage, I came out of the tree a bit and did a turn around to be more comfy. Once I did that, Scribe could see the 6 white chest hairs I have. I know I am a black cat, but I hear it said that all black cats have a few lighter hairs somewhere…

Once again, I told Scribe about my continued monitoring of the sanctuary staff and their daily meetings. I am really getting good at pulling myself up to the table and tossing my legs over and sitting in on all the business each day. I so enjoy being a part of the decision making process. I always send in some meows or raise a front paw either to express my opinion or to vote (though I am not sure I am always noticed).

Scribe told me about seeing my dear Melanie (my adopted grand) in the lobby area outside of Jonathan’s office. She has lost a lot of weight and is moving so slowly now. I miss her a lot but I know she is better off in the lobby area. I hope I get to see her one more time soon.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about the two fun television shows: the Kitten Bowl and the Puppy Bowl. The Puppy Bowl had a special skybox for the kittens and they played and had a fabulous time while the puppies “footballed”
their hearts out. I get to have my own “sky” box every day with my cat tree(s). But I like to know that animals everywhere—cats, dogs, horses, cows, goats, etc.—are being treated well and are having fun like me.

So now we all look forward to the end of March and spring coming soon. Wow, I am so tired of winter and cold weather and sniffles and U.R.I.’s and kitty meds. I hope all of you are safe, warm and well, as I am here at the sanctuary. Come visit me and we can chat while you give me fun massages.

Purrs and kitty kisses to all,

Love,
June
