June’s Journal Entry #7
Happy holidays to all!
I thought October and November were wonderful months with the celebration of Halloween (inside for me) and our first-ever “Thanksgiving with the Cats” event, which provided lots of good turkey snacks for us and brought many visitors and donations! But December brings us 3 glorious holidays: Hannukah, Christmas, and Kwanza. So I am looking forward to experiencing another month of fun here at the sanctuary.
I have a funny story to tell you. Scribe came to visit me and chat and spend time with me. I was actually looking forward to seeing her and getting a massage of some sort. But when she came into the room, she did not see my favorite cat bed. She thought it might be getting washed. So she searched the room and found a black kitty hiding in one of the cat trees near the window where I always like to stay near Melanie. She spent almost half an hour talking to this beautiful black kitty and massaging her legs and telling her all about her month.
Only it wasn’t me, it was Impy…hah, boy was that funny. I was tucked neatly into a cat tree in the front of the community room just watching all this and laughing. Impy and I do look alike. Well, you can imagine the look on Scribe’s face when Impy got up and walked out of the cat tree. I heard an “Ut oh, this is not June.”
Well, it did not take long for Scribe to find me as she looked in every inch of the community room and in every tree and bed. And then we had our usual visit with the massage. She told me about her month and asked me about mine. And I got a wonderful head rub and ear massage. It was a really nice visit! I am so glad she found me and that Impy did get up and walk away or I might have missed my time with Scribe and she might never have known her mistake. She and I both had a good laugh over this one.
So, I have a new job at the sanctuary. From time to time and each a.m., the staff and volunteers have meetings. I have been sitting in on these meetings and performing some great gymnastics feats because I am incredibly agile. I will pull myself up to a spot on the cat tree, fling my legs over and find a nice spot where I can supervise the meetings. They think I am training now for the Olympics, but I am just having a good time watching them and making sure they stay on task with taking care of us kitties.
I am sad now as I just got some upsetting news about my BFF, Melanie. She has been having some medical issues with blood pressure and needs to be in Jonathan’s office. I know she is happy there and getting lots of much needed loved and attention. But I miss her dearly and hope I can at least see her once or twice. That would be a wonderful holiday present for me, to see my dear Melanie again.
I wish each of you a very happy holiday season! I am safe here at Tabby’s Place and am looking forward to what this new month will bring. My health is good and I am so blessed to be here at the sanctuary. May the spirit of each of the 3 holidays—Hannukah, Christmas and Kwanza—be with all of you and may you all be blessed in the new year with peace, health and happiness.
Love,
June
