Over the last few days, all the cats at Tabby’s Place have been convinced spring has finally arrived. Over the winter months, we had put up tarps on the outside walls of the solaria to protect them from wind and snow. That way, the cats could still go outside and be somewhat protected from the weather.
But this past weekend, it was time to take down the tarps and let the fresh air in! Boy, did the cats enjoy it. Carrot was no exception. During the winter, the occasional cat wandered outside to the solarium for a short while, but they usually quickly went back inside. It was just too cold for them to truly enjoy it.
But this week, suddenly, many of our feline friends have headed out to enjoy the first spring breezes. Carrot has been acting like a kitten again, running and rolling all over the solarium. Over the last few days, he’s been outside more than he’s been inside, and who can blame him? He loves his outdoor time, and now he can finally enjoy it without being too cold. He has even had company in the solarium; fellow Suite B residents Faye, Chelsea and Steve have been enjoying early spring, too. As you can see below, Carrot is happy to pause for a photo op on his way outside.
Carrot continues to receive medication to relax his bladder. As I have noted before, we’ve had to try several things until we found something that works without sedating him. Of all the cats who need their bladders expressed at Tabby’s Place, Carrot is still the most difficult to do. But, at least with the meds it is easier for him — and the staff, too.
I’m sure you remember how freaked-out Carrot used to get whenever we would add a new cat to his room. Well, these days, he takes it all in stride. I guess he got used to new cats arriving, because now he doesn’t even react. Then again, all the cats in Suite B were quite happy when roommate BooBoo was recently adopted. BooBoo was a bully with the cats, so none of them miss him terribly. BooBoo is now loving life as an only cat.
Although many cats come and go, one thing never changes: Carrot’s best friend remains Spumoni. They can still be found snuggling together often (as you can see above), and they love to wrestle together.
Well, that’s all the Carrot news for now. As always, thank you so much for your continued support of Carrot. Because of you, cats like Carrot have a safe place to call home, where they will always be surrounded by love.
