Wouldn’t it be great if your days were filled with friends to play with, wonderful food served to you on silver platters (or in paper plates…. same thing), more toys than you could ever play with, a glorious sun porch so you can lay and bask in the sun, and 100’s of people who pet you and love you? Sounds pretty good right!?
Well for Carrot this is his everyday life. Must be nice! Not that he doesn’t deserve it, because he certainly does.
Most would say Carrot got a rough deal in life – he is paraparetic, meaning he can’t fully empty his own bladder, and he was dumped at a high kill shelter with only hours to spare before he would be euthanized, and all this before he was 9 months old. He certainly hasn’t had it easy, and all this would cause most people to feel sorry for themselves.
Carrot, however, is oblivious to the fact he got a rough start to life. Carrot does, and I’m sure always has, thinks that life is absolutely wonderful. I would bet even at that high kill shelter Carrot was his usual happy-go-lucky self, and won everyone’s hearts. So yes, Carrot certainly deserves all the friends, toys, silver platters, sun porches and devotion he gets every day at Tabby’s Place, and I’m so happy he is here with us to receive all the worship he so rightly deserves.
Carrot has turned Suite C, where he resides, into a crazy playground. You will often see him racing around in there playing with Blue, Chelsea, Savanna, and of course his best buddy Spumoni. It amazes me how cranky Spumoni has always been with the other cats; he would growl at them, he would smack them, and he certainly would never be seen playing with them!
I don’t know how Carrot did it, or what his special gift is, but he totally won Spumoni over to be his BFF. I even saw them together the other day, and Spumoni had his front legs wrapped around Carrot and he was grooming him! It was a very obvious display of affection. For whatever reason Spumoni absolutely loves Carrot, and Carrot loves…. well everyone.
