Update for Carrot

Dear Carrot friends,

Happy New Year to you, and may this be the year of the Carrot!

Carrot’s year so far is off to a good start, as was last year. Actually, if you’re Carrot, every year, every day, every minute and every second is a good one! Carrot also turned 2 years old at the beginning of the year, so I’m betting Suite B had a big party when we left for the night!

It’s really sweet (and a little sad) when I go into Carrot’s room to express his bladder. He knows what I’m going to do. It’s the same time each day, first thing in a morning and last thing at night. But he cannot help himself; he still has to run right up to me. He turns around quickly just before he gets to me, and you can see him thinking, oh wait, she’s here to express my bladder, and I don’t like that. But then he turns around again and comes to me, like he’s thinking, I know what she’s going to do…but she’ll pet me too, and I LOVE that! Carrot just can’t resist getting some attention, even if it means also doing something he doesn’t like.

Carrot’s room is pretty quiet these days, with only twelve cats. Of course, Carrot still has lots of fun, and his BFF, Spumoni, is still there to wrestle and snuggle.

We had a flood of visitors over the holidays, and because Carrot was the “poster cat” in our year-end appeal, many kindhearted people came to Tabby’s Place asking specifically to see him. At least one floated the idea of maybe, someday adopting him, but upon learning the extent of his bathroom issues, decided this wasn’t the right time. Maybe there is someone out there for Carrot, but for now he has a huge family and more love than most cats get in a lifetime.

I love it when I go into Suite B and see one of our volunteers snuggling with Carrot. This happens very often, and he seems to attract the attention of everyone, young and old. Carrot has lots of love to spread around, and he believes everyone who enters his room is there to see him.

Thank you all for your support of Carrot. We look forward to another fun year of Carrot’s adventures.
