Update for Adam

Update for Adam

Happy March, dear friends.

February weather was like the tropics, and now we are facing crazy snow in March. Ahh…strange weather seems to make an appropriate backdrop for Adam’s update this month. Our little tabby is as amusing as usual, but in surprising ways!

In health news, our boy’s stool has been fickle. When Adam’s stool is too firm, he’s more difficult to express and sometimes needs enemas. Since that’s been the case this month, we’ve decreased his steroid dosage. We will monitor him closely to make sure things aren’t getting too soft.

In more surprising news, Adam appears to have met his match when it comes to madcap energy. Newcomer Stetson is gleefully bouncing off the walls of Suite A…and he’s driving Adam up the wall!

I have witnessed this new competition in action on a few occasions this month. I recently became an adoption counselor for Tabby’s Place, and I have been having a lot of fun helping people find the perfect kitty to adopt. In this capacity, I have had a lot of time to see Adam and Stetson interacting, as young Stetson has been on most everyone’s kitty cat wish list for adoption.

The first family I took to meet Stetson got a good look at Adam too. He immediately came out to greet them. Stetson, unfortunately, stayed up on the ramp and only peered down at his potential adopters. He was acting shy. At first, I just thought this was due to Stetson’s being unsure of a group of people coming to ogle him. Now I am wondering if it was due to the power of Adam!

The next week, I brought another family to meet Stetson. This was a very sweet young couple and their children, 5 and 3 years old. The father was a cat whisperer in every way. Every cat he interacted with the whole day just fell under his spell. It was a beautiful sight!

We walked into Suite A to meet Stetson, and he came right over to meet the parents and the kids. He only got about ten seconds of time with them before Adam came over to get in on the act! Adam went right up to the father, who knelt down to greet Adam, and Adam climbed up into the man’s lap and started to give him hugs and kisses. I have never seen Adam act like that before. He was clearly smitten with this man! It was honestly one of the most adorable Adam moments I have ever witnessed.

Unfortunately for Stetson, Adam wouldn’t let the family play with him, and they decided to go see other cats. They ended up putting Sage on hold, which was an absolutely perfect match for their family.

I guess Adam finally let Stetson get the limelight later that day, because Stetson was also put on hold with a different family. So Adam will not have to put up with bouncy Stetson for much longer.

Adam hopes that you have a wonderful month of March, and that you stay warm and cozy in this weird weather. Spring is soon to come, and with Spring comes Adam in the solarium, which always makes for good stories! We look forward to sharing them with you wonderful, generous people. Thank you so much for all that you do for Adam. Now that he knows how to hug, I know he is sending one your way!
