I hope this update finds you doing well. Adam sends his love.
I often have a long post for you, with unflattering words about Adam (typically regarding his excrement, his behavior, or both). This month, however, Adam and his colon have been refreshingly non-newsy. Adam has suffered no constipation, and his stool has been consistently just soft enough. As a result, we’ve been able to decrease his gastrointestinal motility drug.
Since Adam’s potty issues have declined, I haven’t witnessed as much of a mess in Suite A. I know the volunteers who clean the room might disagree, but the days of total poop explosion seem to be behind us. Adam seems more comfortable as well. He is walking around the solarium with a much more confident stride. It is so nice to see him happy.
When it comes to manners, Adam has been mellow and charming with both cats and humans. He is still hanging out in the solarium most days with his pals Pepita and Dawg. A particularly mellow bunch of cats enjoys spending time on the hammock bed out there in the sunbeams.
When I arrive to visit, Adam comes over to greet me, but it is not the frantic Adam of old. Adam now just comes at a brisk trot to greet me, and rubs the whole length of his body against my legs. Could it be that our Adam has finally realized that he is a cat?
This past weekend, I gave a tour to a lovely young couple who had stopped by to see Tabby’s Place. They had read about it, but had never come to visit. They were on their way back from lunch in nearby New Hope, PA, and decided that it was time to see what Tabby’s Place was all about.
I took them all around the building, and we went into Suite A’s solarium. Adam greeted us and really charmed the young lady. He was so sweet. He rubbed her and gently put his paws on her knees so he could reach up to see her better. She rubbed his body all over and had a lovely visit with him. I have never seen him so well behaved with a visitor. He was a great ambassador for Tabby’s Place.
Later that afternoon, I gave another tour to a senior citizen and her niece, who were very interested in adopting a cat. Just as I showed them how the rooms connect to the solaria, Adam appeared to demonstrate how the tubes work. He walked back and forth between the suite and the solarium several times just to show off. Finally, he went into the solarium, and we continued on our tour. When we got around to the window of Suite A, Adam came sauntering in the cat door at the top of the ramp from the tube and bounded down to the floor. The older woman was amazed and delighted with the Adam show!
Adam hopes that you have a lovely end to October. He is so grateful that you continue to love and support him, even with all of his little quirks. I keep telling him that those are precisely what make him the special little guy that he is!
