Update for Adam

Good May to you!

Adam sends you his love and the joy of spring.

Now that warmer weather has set in, Adam has been enjoying the solarium a bit more. This is good news for Adam, because it gives him a change of scenery…and it is good news for his suitemates, because it gives Adam more space to leave his neighbors alone.

Poor Billie Jean has borne the brunt of Adam’s frustration lately. But, he has been seen hanging out peacefully with little Rose and a few other kitties in the solarium.

Even though he seems better outside, I have become quite concerned about Adam’s behavior lately. He seems very agitated and is often just pacing like a lion in a cage. I know that Adam has plenty of room to run and play. That shouldn’t be bothering him. He just seems haunted by something that we cannot see.

It’s been a bit of an off month for a cat who’s usually loudly “on.” In addition to being quiet and less dramatically crazy, Adam’s lost over half a pound, and was dehydrated on one occasion. Our medical team will continue to monitor this closely, and to treat him with fluids if necessary. If Adam’s weight doesn’t improve, we’ll schedule him for an ultrasound to make sure there’s nothing serious going on.

I have been concerned enough about Adam to talk to our Executive Director Jonathan about him. I have noticed over the last few weeks that Adam has been quite spacey. He often has a glazed-over expression in his eyes. Jonathan went through his medical records with me and saw that Adam had gained some weight back again. He admitted that Adam is quite the mystery, and that the medical staff was keeping a close eye on him. Adam recently had blood work done, and nothing is amiss.

Jonathan and I went out to the solarium to visit Adam together. Adam was being rather friendly, which was an improvement from the last time I had seen him. He came running over for some petting, and I was able to pet him a few times. Then he tried to climb Jonathan’s leg and nipped at Jonathan’s hand. Jonathan checked Adam over a bit but couldn’t find anything wrong. We did both notice that Adam’s gait was even more unusual than normal. Adam has always walked a little funny in his back legs, but Saturday, he was really lumbering around strangely.

So now Adam is on the list for a vet visit to see what is happening. We may never know. Adam is just Adam: odd, quirky, ridiculously cute and infuriatingly nibbly. As puzzling a cat as Adam can be, he will always receive that best possible care, and Tabby’s Place will continue to search for an answer to whatever ails our little tabby boy. I will keep you up to date with any news on Adam’s condition. The concern is more mysterious than scary right now. I don’t think he is in any imminent trouble, but keep Adam in your thoughts as our fabulous staff try to figure out how to make him a more comfortable kitty.

Adam thanks you for all you do to help him. He loves you and sends you a million kitty kisses!
