Dear Friend of Tux,

It’s the holiday season
So hoop-de-do and dickory dock
And don’t forget to hang up your sock …
If you don’t know the reference and think Tux and I have simply gone a little bonkers, you can listen here for the Andy Williams holiday song that always makes me chuckle with joy. If Tux were a crooner, I think this is the song that he would sing–nothing too serious, but 100% genuine.
Tux has exciting news to share with you this month! His beloved Community Room got a makeover, and he seems quite pleased with the arrangement.
Back in 2020, the Community Room had three workstations (for humans and cats). Our expansion and the coronavirus pandemic gave us humans both time and room to spread out. But our Tabby’s Place family has grown, and the time has come to once again have this room serve as a busy center for operations.
There are once again three workstations in the room, giving the cats room to spread out and better share responsibilities for oversight of operations and administration.

Tux wasted no time exploring his new stomping grounds. He wants you to know that the very best feature of the renovation is that there are now three cushioned office chairs for napping!
Tux commanded Thanksgiving With The Cats from the center office chair, greeting both new friends and old friends, while Jam took center stage on the central conference table, and Prescott (exhausted from so much early socialization) feigned a deep sleep on a fuzzy blanket-covered side table.
More desks also means more quiet nooks in which to curl up and nap undisturbed.
As we come to the conclusion of another year, I join you in gratitude that Tux has remained his sprightly senior self. But even the coolest of crooners will eventually show their age. Tux is no exception. He’s a little more susceptible to sniffles and tummy upsets these days, and he is not too proud or stubborn to admit that there are days when he simply doesn’t feel his best.
We shared a day like that this month. I entered the Community Room and found Tux curled up on a desk chair. He rose to greet me, received a pet, and then meowed and moved to a different spot. I moved with him, and the process repeated, at which point I understood his message. “I love you, but I’m just not feeling my best right now.”

Two days later, he was back to his usual routine, and we all breathed a sigh of relief, grateful for another moment in time with our dearest gentleman cat, crooning another day. Thank you for all you do to help keep our handsome boy healthy and happy.
Tux and I wish you peace, joy, and contentment this December and very much look forward to greeting you in the new year!
Happy holidays to you!

Lisa
