Update for Tux

Dear Friends of Tux,

Happy Halloween and Happy October to everyone! Tux is feeling a bit of the “spooky” spirit as his Community Room has been decorated with pumpkins and black cats (that are not new residents). It’s been several years since the public was able to enjoy an autumn visit to Tabby’s Place, so the staff went all out decorating this year in the Lobby and Community Room.

The staff also updated our collection of kitty costumes. Tux was a “somewhat” willing model as you can see from his facial expression. “Yippee-ki-yay!”

Tux has been getting to know his newest roommates, Kiko and Antin. Antin is our newest paraplegic kitty at Tabby’s Place. Antin is a handsome tuxedo boy, just like Tux. And, just like Tux, Antin does best eating a GI prescription diet as he is prone to constipation and is still getting used to being expressed by human assistance.

Kiko has cerebellar hypoplasia, which means that the part of his brain that controls balance and coordination was not properly developed in utero. This condition makes Kiko very wobbly, prone to toppling over, and somewhat unpredictable in his movements. Kiko spends his evenings in a safe enclosure but gets to come out and visit with his Community Room friends during the day. Tux decided to check out his “pad” and wasn’t exactly sure what to make of Kiko’s wobbly greeting. But we know that Tux is always warm and welcoming and always greets newcomers with an open mind. Kiko, like Tux, appreciates a good cozy bed and gentle head pets.

Tux meets Kiko.

Tux has been in good health this month. He had a full check-up which included blood work, an ultrasound, and a blood pressure check. The ultrasound indicated little change to his heart muscle, which is a good thing. His blood pressure and blood tests all measured in the normal range. Tux thanks you for your continued support. Keeping a keen medical eye on Tux is only possible because of hearts as big and generous as yours!
