Update for Tux

Dear Friends of Tux,

Humidity and change are in the air at Tabby’s Place. When we touched base last month, Tabby’s Place had just hosted a Groundbreaking for our expansion, called Quinn’s Corner. So much has happened in these last few weeks and Tux is quite excited to report on all he has seen.

It seemed like overnight the lush green field to the northeast of Tabby’s Place was transformed into a full-blown construction site with huge yellow vehicles, large piles of dirt, and humans in bright reflective vests and hard hats.

Tux watched from his favorite window seat as the world outside his window busied with excitement. Just the other day he watched the cement trucks roll in and begin to pour footers for a new foundation.

Life indoors has been exciting too, as Tux has been making some new friends. Two of the newer Community Room residents have turned to Tux for guidance and comfort. Shelley is a shy gray kitty with limited vision. Shelley grows in confidence with humans and has found Tux to be a steadfast friend and mentor. Tux recently introduced Shelley to one of his favorite napping spots.

The relationship between Tux and Siesta is a bit different. Siesta is more concerned with investigations and procuring pets from humans than he is with making feline friends. However, Tux’s relaxed demeanor is just the sort of model that a curious cat needs. While Siesta is a little too nosy for the likes of Carley Rose or Indiana, Tux is both patient and kind. This is precisely what Siesta needs.

Tux has been in good health and spirits this month. His mouth continues to look good and his medication doses remain the same. He has regained some of the weight he lost while his mouth was hurting him.

It seems to me that Tux has regained some of his spunk that seemed somewhat diminished a few months ago. I was away for two weeks for family obligations and received the warmest of welcomes from Tux when I returned. As staff and volunteers return to Tabby’s Place, my work schedule is shifting a bit so that I am once again working in the Community Room one day each week. Tux wasted no time in coming to join me and give his stamp of approval for my return. We had a small committee meeting at the conference table that same afternoon and Tux hopped up and strutted confidently down the center of the table and right to me for some loving. It warms my heart to see him so interactive again.

Tux claims my work bag.

Tux is so grateful for your love and support and looks forward to the day when he can once again demonstrate his love and appreciation in person.
