Update for TNR Fund

Dear feral friends,

Summertime, and the living is easier — infinitely easier — for feral cats, thanks to you. Even as Kitten Season barrels on with full force, we’re seeing signs of sweetness for the free-roaming felines you’re helping, and I can’t thank you enough.

But first, a roll call for last month’s many munchkins. Of the twenty-eight kittens in our June update, only seven remain unclaimed by adopters (that would be Satomi, Azalea, Betty, Peggy, Roger, Joanie and Beamer, if you’re keeping track). Mama Patrice, spayed and healthy, is loving “life after litters” on a beautiful farm, and mama Magnolia has been adopted. We’re especially thrilled for this tiny tortie; scarcely seven months old herself, Magnolia is long overdue for being cherished for her own kittenhood.

As the kittens continue to tumble in, we’re eagerly awaiting construction on our expanded medical facility. The wheels of such things turn very slowly (we are learning all about patience as we await permits etc.), but we know it will be worth the wait. Once our new hospital is operational, we’ll be able to help so many more feral felines each week — and to prevent the births of any more litters on the mean streets. Until that day, though, we’re honored to care for all our sweet smidgens.

But even in the heat of kitten season, it’s never all about the infants. This month, we are blessed with beautiful news about one of our adult TNR alumni: Willie.

You may recall how, back in March, Tabby’s Place and Lambertville Animal Welfare joined forces to care for Willie’s wounds. As one of several free-roaming “railroad cats” right here in Hunterdon County, NJ, Willie was a lovable rapscallion with endless affection for human beings.

Below left, you can see Willie as he appeared when we first met him, injured and anxious. But feast your eyes on Willie now (above)! Now living it up in a foster home, Willie steals every show. Willie’s foster mom reports:

“Willie LOVES people and getting attention! He can’t get enough petting and loving and is looking for a forever home where he can get tons of attention! When not demanding love, Willie will roll over in his bed playing with his toys as if he were a kitten. This sweet and very handsome boy loves his new life living indoors. Willie had to have half his tail amputated due to an unknown injury, but he is too happy to care about this!”

Dear friends, Willie could not have made this journey to health — and excitable affection — without your generosity. Know that, every day, summer, fall, winter and spring, you are helping Tabby’s Place to rescue and provide stellar medical care for such dazzling cats. I thank God for you and wish you a glorious midsummer!
