Update for the TNR Fund

Nessie as she first met us…

A mirthful May to you, Team TNR!

I hope joy is overtaking you at every turn, making you laugh and dream and blossom with all your heart.

Your heart is the year-’round drumbeat of love at Tabby’s Place, and this merry month is no exception. As I type this email, it’s your heart and your generosity that have just saved the day for one very fortunate grey girl.

Tabby’s Place normally confines our TNR work to the immediate vicinity of Ringoes, NJ, but our most recent adventures brought us unusually close to home. Nervous little Nessie was trapped right outside of our sanctuary!

It’s almost as though this gentle, anxious little lady knew she would need us. It was immediately apparent that Ness is (very!) pregnant. In fact, our vet, Dr. C., expects that Nessie will give birth within days.

…and beginning to feel a bit better

Tabby’s Place is blessed with a staff that doesn’t check out when they clock out, and so our stellar Junior Veterinary Technician, Jess, is fostering Nessie in her own home. This will be a warm and peaceful place for Ness to give birth and nurture her babies, and the whole little family will be enveloped in love. Jess and her family have fostered many cats of all ages and needs, and they will be more than up to the task of welcoming Nessie’s little niblets into the world.

Perhaps the taller task will be helping Ness herself to feel at home in her new life as an indoor cat. It’s evident that Nessie is a sweet soul, and she’s already beginning to enjoy a bit of affection. But it’s understandable that she’s also very anxious.

Mitzi, forever loved

As you know so well, she’s come to the right place.

It’s Tabby’s Place’s special gift to focus on each individual cat as though she were the only cat in the world. That kind of personalized tenderness will help Nessie learn to lean into our love, and to feel truly at peace. However long it takes, whatever she may need from us, she will receive — with boundless, unconditional love.

This sort of devotion is rare in this world, and it’s only possible thanks to you. Your heart makes Tabby’s Place a foretaste of heaven for the cats we’re fortunate enough to rescue, and a thousand years would be too short to thank you enough.

I’m afraid I must end on a bittersweet note, but one wrapped in your compassion. You may recall gentle Mitzi (pictured at left), a TNR “alumna” from 2020. After an anxious early start, Mitzi came to flourish — and to gobble up love and wet food in equal measure — living at Tabby’s Place. Sadly, Mitzi lost her battle with cancer this spring, leaving us all heartbroken yet grateful that she was ours…and we were hers.

Nessie and her niblets!

Dear sponsors, through your generosity, every single Tabby’s Place cat is truly “yours.” Thank you for your devotion and your steadfast goodness. We love you!

Your correspondent,
Angela

Very Happy PS: Since the time I wrote this update, Nessie has given birth to two healthy, outrageously adorable little ones. They are warm, loved, and thriving in the foster home of our Junior Vet Tech, Jess. Thank you for making this possible…and please join me in wishing Nessie a belated Happy Mother’s Day! 🙂
