Happy July, Friends!
Steven and I hope that you are well and enjoying your summer. Steven is enjoying the sun in the solarium and hopes that you have also had some time for fun in the sun!
Unfortunately, it is not all happy news for Steven this month, although everything that has happened is behind us and things are looking up. Steven had a really difficult time this month being on the receiving end of some severe bullying. He was attacked at the beginning of the month and noted to be limping with a wound on his back. As the month came to a close, he had several lacerations including one that required medical intervention to close the wound. He was put on cage rest for a few days to let things heal. He developed cellulitis under one wound. While the swelling continued, an aspirate indicated nothing sinister. He is now back in his suite, resting and recuperating out in the solarium that he loves so much.
I spent some time with him while he was on bed rest in our medical suite. He is such a sweet boy. I petted him a lot and told him that he was a good kitty. Even though he was beaten up pretty well, it didn’t change the lovely sweet Steven that we know so well. The other cat has been moved to a different suite with some other pretty dominant cats, so hopefully, that will help keep the peace in Suite A. That kitty will get all the love and attention that he seeks in the other suite and Steven and his roommates will be able to live in serenity again.
Relative serenity that is…thanks to a small, ball of energy named Kozmo. Kozmo is a new cat to Suite A and he is a spitfire! He is very young and has a lot of energy. The other cats in Suite A are not very young and really resemble a bin of potatoes more than a group of cats! They like to sleep all day. Kozmo constantly wants to play, and he bugs the other cats all day with his crazy energy. There is nothing untoward about Kozmo’s behavior and the other cats seem to be putting up with his wild ways pretty well. Poor Steven just wants to rest out in the solarium in peace.
Quinn’s Corner is coming along and we will soon be expanding Tabby’s Place to include so many more cats! We are all excited that this vision is finally becoming a reality. Because of your generosity to cats like Steven and to the mission of Tabby’s Place, we are able to save so many precious animals. It really takes a village and we are so grateful that you are a part of our little corner of the world. Enjoy the rest of your summer and we will be back next month with what we hope will be a happier report on our sweet Steven.
