Update for Sammy

Dear Sammy Supporters,

I fear I’m giving everyone the wrong impression about Sammy’s social life. After all, Sammy can’t be spending all of her time cuddling up with Puzzle in the window box. There must be moments when she, quite frankly, wants some alone time.

The other day when I was at Tabby’s Place volunteering, I decided to sneak into the Community Room at an odd time, earlier than when I usually pop in. I wanted to see where she hangs out. I wanted to see what she was doing. In other words, I wanted to peek in on the secret life of Sammy.

When I think of Sammy, I tend to imagine her in the window box with the sun shining in. But I know she doesn’t spend all her time there. And this morning, in particular, was different than usual. A winter storm was brewing; there was no sun. Where would Sammy be?

The window box, the one with the beautiful sign reading “Sammy and Puzzle’s Place,” was empty. I glanced to the right. Sammy was curled into a cute little ball, catnapping, in the cat tree. Alone. So I was right. Despite her obvious affection for Puzzle, she needed time away from him.

So where was Puzzle? I sauntered around the room, checking all the windows, the cat beds, the chairs, the desks and anywhere else a cat could possibly be. No Puzzle — how strange. I meandered back to Sammy, who was awake. So I did what I always do—I began petting her, and she began to purr.

Then I looked up and spied Puzzle on the top level of the cat tree. He’d been sleeping, too, all curled up and all alone, but now he was looking down, staring at me.  I should have guessed that Puzzle wouldn’t be too far from Sammy — and it seems they both like it that way.

Sammy continues to enjoy good health. She and Puzzle plan to remain at Tabby’s Place over the holidays—no visiting of relatives, no taking any long trips, just a nice quiet month!

As always, Sammy and I thank you for your continued generosity. We wish you a wonderful holiday season, filled with peace and love.
