Update for Sammy

Dear Supporters of Sammy,

I have to admit something. Whenever I walk into the Community Room and can’t find Sammy, I not only cringe, but my heart beats just a little bit faster. Even though her health is good and she has seemed so happy in the last few months — hanging out with Pixie in her window box, lounging around on one of the comfy chairs around the conference table — I always imagine that when I don’t immediately spot her, something is wrong.

Has she been rushed to the hospital with some kind of emergency?

Has she been kidnapped by alien forces?

Or–and this would be a wonderful thing–has she been adopted and am I never to see her again?

The point is, for so long she had her favorite spot and seemed to always be there. And then she picked another favorite spot and was always there. And you know what creatures of habit cats can be.

But then things changed.

Rumor has it that Sammy has become quite fickle with where she likes to hang out. As the Community Room changes–new items are brought in–new chairs or blankets or whatever, it seems Sammy has become an investigator. She’s the one now who has to go over and try it out.

New cat tree? Let me go over and see if it meets with my approval.

New blanket? I’ll lay on top of it and determine if it’s comfy enough.

The other day I, of course, had trouble locating Sammy and Ginny pointed her out. There she was, as cozy as can be, cuddled on top of a giant fluffy stuffed mouse. It was new, and Sammy was trying it out.

This has become her new vocation, and I’ve come to realize I must get over my fears. From now on, I must enter the Community Room with a new mindset, asking myself the question, “Where is Sammy this time?” rather than “What has happened to her?”

Sammy and I thank you as always for your continued generosity. Without your support, Tabby’s Place wouldn’t be the wonderful, helpful, supportive place it is. If you have the chance, please visit the Tabby’s Place website here.

The 2018 Linda Fund Matching Challenge is in full swing through the end of September.
It’s a great opportunity to make your donating dollars go even further and to tell others about the wonderful work of Tabby’s Place.

Enjoy the final days of summer!!!.
