Update for Sammy

Dear supporters of Sammy,

There is never a quiet moment, or so it seems, in Sammy’s abode. Last month I was rejoicing that Sammy was spending time outside of the cat tree, lounging on the chair, seemingly more comfortable in her surroundings. Yes, I thought. Progress had been made.

This month, the tide had turned. I entered the suite and noticed immediately that Sammy was back in her cat tree, snuggled for safety. I did what I always do and paid attention to Sammy first. I walked across the room and began to pet her. Leila became upset. Sammy hissed, and then Leila hissed back. Leila took a swipe at me, but her claws were in. Then she settled on top of the cat tree and moaned quietly. Leila was acting like a drama queen. Okay. There and then I made a resolution to myself to pay attention to Leila first.

The next time I went to visit Sammy – and her digs moved one room over to Adoption Room #2 – I focused on Leila first. Not that I had much of a choice! Leila marched up front and center and demanded to be petted. But in a sweet way. She meowed. But, once I paid her some attention, she stepped aside, and I could safely visit Sammy, who was huddled in the cat tree.

Meanwhile, I heard a rumor that although Max had behaved a bit badly this month with Leila and some others in the suite, his bad behavior did not extend to Sammy. That was nice to hear. The bond between those two remains solid!

As always, Sammy and I thank you for your continued generosity.
Enjoy the last of these lovely autumn days.
