Update for Rose

Dearest Sponsors,

Thank you for your sweet birthday wishes— I felt them in my heart.

My birthday was wonderful, and my lobby pals made me a birthday card, and I was gifted with extra lickable treats for a snack and with my birthday dinner. My correspondent said that I was the prettiest southern birthday belle that she ever saw, and next year she wants to get me a li’l tiara. How do you think that would look? I would probably be the first Tabby’s Place pageant cat! On my birthday I have vivid memories of my loving momma cat who raised me as a proper southern kitty. I also think about “momma Ana,” the amazing human who rescued me in Virginia, brought me to Tabby’s Place and even visited me a few years ago. I do believe that things in life happen for a reason, and having you choose a l’il ol’ black-and-white furry southern kitty as your special needs sponsor cat has brought so much happiness to my life. I reckon that I am one very blessed kitty, and I send you my love every day!

Dreamy days for Rose

As you may know, I enjoy listening to the volunteers and staff talk about television shows. There is a TV show called “American Ninja Warrior,” where very athletic humans go through obstacle courses. It looks way too tough for me, and my legs are too short. My correspondent wants a new show to air called “Feline Ninja,” starring yours truly. Lately, I have been making my way up, down, and through the lobby. I admit that my excursions are often to finish up my roommates’ food dishes. I do have ninja-like moves. One minute you will see me under the reception desk, and the next minute I am perched on a chair, or on the couch inspecting my correspondent’s tote bag.

Look high, and you see me on the top of the reception desk where I am practicing my catwalk strut, like a feline model! I also climb to the top of the cat tree and enjoy window visits with the 5 beautiful kitties in the feline leukemia suite. Every day I hope that an adopter will walk into Tabby’s Place and adopt the five kitties together. My walking circuit in the lobby is not complete without following my correspondent at least one time into the supply closet, into the laundry room, and then scaling a giant night crate looking for food. I get in a good workout, and my correspondent is amazed at how fast I move, like an Olympic skater gliding over the ice!

All of us kitties at Tabby’s Place would love your help in expanding our family—with volunteers! Last month I mentioned our need for additional volunteers as we prepare for our Quinn’s Corner expansion, which will open later this year. From cleaning to feeding to delivering tender affection, volunteers make a huge impact on our cats’ lives. If you have a heart for cats, we have a role perfectly fit for you at Tabby’s Place.

If you, or anyone in your own “family” of cat lovers, can come aboard, please visit our volunteer page, submit a volunteer application, or contact our Director of Volunteers, Karina Jewitt, at kj@tabbysplace.org. Volunteers must be 12 years or older, and a parent must accompany those under 16 during their volunteer shift. Please share this opportunity with your loved ones! And if you live a bit too far away to join us in person, know that you are still very much “right here” with us through your generosity…and we are so very grateful!

A good Health Report is as good as gold. This month I had recurring loose stools, so the vet staff put me back on medication to resolve the trouble. Staff noted on my report that I am in good health and spirits. The funniest thing happened last week. I receive a nightly bottom bath. When the staff member brought me back into the lobby she said, “Rose’s bottom is clean enough to eat off of.” My correspondent fell over laughing! I love me a bottom bath but between you and me the best part is I get to air dry my bottom, diapie free!

I hope that you had a special Mother’s Day and I’m sending you bright floral whisker kisses!

Love,
Rose
