Update for Rose

So produd to be a certified therapy animal!

Dear Beloved Sponsors,

I do believe that April showers will bring May flowers! I am a creature of habit and beliefs. Every night when I curl up in my cat bed, I close my eyes and think about all the wonderful things in my future. I call these my “dream wishes.”

Throughout the pandemic, I had many dream wishes and looked forward to returning to my normal life. I dreamed of my friends who were residents in the nursing homes I visited in the Tabby’s Place Aged to Purrfection program. Whenever my correspondent introduces me to tour visitors, she points out that this li’l furry black-and-white southern kitty is a certified therapy animal. I puff up my fur and am so proud. I am overjoyed that I passed the certification exam and was awarded a pink scarf to wear when I visit the seniors. I think you will agree that the best dreams are ones that come true. Well, we had a “dream wish” come true! The Aged to Purrfection program has returned, and my pal Tux and I were the first cats to visit our senior friends in the nursing home. We received a champion’s welcome, and my heart was bursting with happiness. The seniors were so sweet and gentle with us. I shared many purrs and gentle rubs and even invited them to pet my silky belly.

Visiting with my senior friends at Aged to Purrfection

Slow and steady wins the race. Tabby’s Place has been able to welcome back many former volunteers along with new volunteers. A group of seasoned volunteers, including my correspondent, are part of a “mentor team,” and they help new volunteers learn their tasks. I love to see the sparkle in all the eyes of new volunteers when they walk into the lobby for the first time. It must be a challenge to get all your work done when there are so many wonderful cats to play with.  I call this a legitimate distraction! My correspondent dashes when she has a free minute from laundry to spend time with me.

What color are my toe beans?

With the opening of Quinn’s Corner, our special wing for cats diagnosed with feline leukemia virus (FeLV), I was told that we are going to need more volunteers, and I love me more volunteers! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer (and getting to visit with me), or if you have friends or family members who want to join the Tabby’s Place Volunteer Family, please tell them to stay tuned for more information next month!

I am in a bit of a silly mood this month, so I asked my correspondent to include a Rose trivia question. What color or colors are my toe beans? Photo posted.

My correspondent gave me 2 lickable treats today, April 15, to celebrate my 9th birthday! I think I am aging quite well, and love my life xoxoxoxo

I’m 9! Can you believe it?

My correspondent has been filling in for dinner feeding on Saturday night for the community rooms (the lobby, community room, and offices). This makes me so excited because (this is our secret) I receive a lickable treat in the afternoon, and some in my dinner dish. I really do love food! I came up with a new food strategy. I jump up on the reception desk after dinner. Grecca is usually sound asleep, and her food dish is usually quite full. I walk quietly like a ninja cat and demolish the food dish.

Me and my Froggie!

One of the tours last week was with a family with a 7-year-old daughter. She fell madly in love with me and kept saying to her mom, “I want to adopt Rose,” repeatedly. Bless her youngin’ heart!

I have been feeling good this month and my health report offers a snapshot of how the vet staff is proactive with my health plan. I receive weekly urinalysis tests to stay on top of any developing infections. If the test shows an increase in my white blood cell count, then the vet team will take a culture to check further for bacteria. I continue to respond well to the long-acting antibiotic. I had a few instances of loose stools this month. The vet staff monitors this daily to stay on top of any abnormal patterns.

Stretching it out

Thank you for being my sponsor—your generosity is giving me the best vet care in the world, with lots of love!

Sending you chocolate Easter eggs and chocolate matzah whisker kisses!
Love,
Rose
