Update for Rose

Any treats in there? Did Santa remember?

Dearest Friends,

I reckon that it was just yesterday when we said goodbye to 2020, and now it’s time to bid farewell to 2021.  No matter which year it is, thank you for being there with me through thick and thin and quite a few health challenges.  You are my family and I love you.  Having you as a sponsor is a blessing!  This li’l ol’ black-and-white furry southern belle has so many things to be thankful for year-round.

Racing to scale the crate!

The Tabby’s Place cats had a fun Thanksgiving this year.  On November 20, we had a “Facebook Live” event for our yearly “Thanksgiving with the Cats.”  Pre-pandemic the event was in-person with visitors.  The video is still posted on our Facebook page if you care to peek.  A certain southern black-and-white kitten that you know very well is in the video opening in hot pursuit of a plate of fresh turkey!  Lobby life is grand, and I had the honor of being the first cat to enjoy the turkey—it was yummy!

I love me some happy news!  My lobby mates who were treated for ringworm are doing great and have returned to the lobby.  We also have a new resident named Elvira.  She is a blind kitty, who is teaching cats and humans how to approach her, so she does not get scared.  I adore her long black fur and think she is pretty as a peach.

Part way up! You got this, girl!

The holidays have arrived at Tabby’s Place and the sanctuary looks festive with decorations throughout!  The lobby wins ‘most beautiful’ area in my eyes.  What would make the experience picture-perfect would be beautiful snowflakes falling from a winter sky.  Olive and I like to spend hours at the lobby doors watching snowflakes cascade.  One of our talented volunteers organized a holiday cat photoshoot, and I was tickled pink to be included.  Hope you like my modeling pictures, they are a holiday hug from me to you!  The gift bag photo was silly because I knocked it over in hopes that it contained a catnip banana or lickable treats.

I do declare that the number of sanctuary tours has increased this past month—yay!  The lobby is the first tour stop so I can welcome visitors with some southern charm.  I have watched my correspondent literally glow when she tells her tour groups about my journey, and then visitors flock to me to show their love, and in return, they receive Rose affection.  Sometimes I feel like a “celebricat” (is that a word?), but I will always remain you’re loving and modest southern belle.  Over the years I have had the pleasure of becoming friends with many volunteers.  One of my volunteer friends, Lisa, captured a series of photos of me in the Lobby scaling a cat crate as though I was climbing Mt. Everest!  Please enjoy the photos!

Almost there! What an athlete I am!

There are fewer kernels of popcorn in the skillet this month regarding my health update.  Last month I shared my bout of drooling along with mild inflammation in my mouth.  My discomfort increased, and the vet team determined that I needed to have my lower canines (fangs on my bottom jaw) extracted.  I am feeling so much better, and the vet team has been there for me every step of the way, making sure that I was not in pain.  My correspondent gave me “get well” lickable treats whenever she was volunteering.   The only other “popping kernels” in the health update skillet were a squinty eye and some loose stools.  Again, the vet team treated me, and I am feeling very “Rose happy!”

When you ring in the New Year, know that I will be thinking of you, sending my love along with bubbly champagne whisker kisses to start your 2022!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Resting angel

Love,
Rose
