Update for Rose

My favorite lobby chair, waiting for me upon my return!

Dearest Sponsors,

BREAKING NEWS!  I returned to the Lobby, my official winter residence!  I had such a fun summer in Suite A and the solarium.  I spent most of each day soaking in the fresh air and sunshine, hanging out with my feline pals, watching the strollers go by, welcoming visitors, and—of course—accepting lickable treats.  I am so blessed—I have the best of both worlds with dual Tabby’s Place residency.

The first thing that I did upon my return was to inspect every inch of the Lobby.  I am pleased to report that everything was in order, and my favorite chair was waiting!  An extra treat was that my longtime pal Pepita from Suite A was moved to the Lobby.  Visitors have remarked how cute it looks when we sit near each other because we are both black and white kitties.

My new catnip banana!

Even though I share my adventures with you monthly, I do declare that I think about you every day!  I am grateful that you chose me to sponsor and care about a li’l ol’ black-and-white furry southern kitty.  I left a “moved to the Lobby” sign in Suite A so that visitors can find me.  My correspondent presented me with a big catnip banana to welcome me back to the Lobby.  I am tickled pink to report that my Lobby mates do not try to steal my banana!  It is much easier for my correspondent to bring me a lickable treat at any time in the Lobby.  Speaking of treats, this year’s Halloween Costume contest was so much fun!  I was excited to be a pretty fairy cat with wings!  Every cat was a winner, and all the photos were posted on the Tabby’s Place Facebook page (if you want to see photos of cats in costumes, please check the post on October 31, 2021).

Guarding the lolly pops

Have you ever done something so funny that you laugh about it for weeks?  I see myself as an explorer and an adventurer: the sanctuary is mine to conquer.  I discovered long ago that our cat meals are prepared in the laundry room area, and lickable treats are stored there too.  I typically position my furry body near the door before mealtime.  When you see a chance you take it (as the song goes), and I saw a golden opportunity when a volunteer opened the door without seeing me.  I might have invisible powers!   A staff member reached for me, missed, and I safely flew over a low shelf with the grace of a prima ballerina!  I might be small and furry in stature, but I can soar like an eagle!

Halloween Fairy!

My health update this month is busy as popcorn in a skillet!  My antibiotic medicine was changed, and my asthma medication was decreased.  My cough comes and goes, and the vet team is monitoring me closely and will start me on an inhaler if it makes me more comfortable.  I developed some mild inflammation in the front of my mouth that resulted in some drooling.  My correspondent points out that a drooling Rose is still a beautiful Rose!  Our vet team plans to recheck the area because of increased sensitivity.  I don’t want to jinx myself, but my urinary tract infection (UTI) has cleared up, and I feel much better: the sparkle is back in my eyes.

As a cat who is incontinent and leaks urine, it is important that I stay dry during the day and overnight.  A few of my roommates in the Lobby contracted ringworm, a skin infection.  To keep me extra safe the vet team put me on an antifungal medication that is purely out of precaution because I have a delicate immune system.  Rest assured, I was thoroughly checked over, and there was no evidence of an active ringworm infection.  Ringworm likes damp places so keeping extra dry in white disposable diapers works well for me!

Feed me!

Enjoy your Thanksgiving, and know that I am sending you southern pecan pie whisker kisses.

Love,
Rose
