Update for Rose

Dear Fans and Followers of Rose,

I do declare fall is here, and the leaves are starting to change color. Y’all know that I love the red and orange leaves, and now I can see them from both the solarium and the lobby door. I thank my lucky stars that I’m here, and that I have you as my sponsor. Thank you for being by my side every step of the way. As you can imagine, my journey continues; I’m happy to report that my neurologist was gob smacked at my progress. Guess a little ol’ medical setback can’t keep a black and white southern kitty down! Last week my correspondent met my neurologist and another doctor who treated me at the hospital, and they were both really thrilled that I am doing so well. I see my neurologist next month for a follow up. I’m sure my correspondent will fill you in soon afterward.

I have so many things that I want to share with you that maybe I should have my own podcast. I still shake my lil’ head in disbelief when I think how far I’ve come. I’m told the only visible sign of my illness is the cute head tilt that I have at times.

My life is divided into two worlds these days. The first world is life in the lobby. I’m still getting adjusted to the high activity level in the lobby. I enjoy climbing and sitting in the cat tree next to my crate. The crate is my home at night, and when my correspondent visits she checks that my crate has two towels, a blanket, a cat bed and a small blanket in the bed, along with food and water. I have a hiding spot under the reception desk where I go if I need some “me” time. The staff put a cat bed there for me to rest. I enjoy when we have visitors and they come over to me and say very sweet things. When my correspondent is at Tabby’s Place doing tours and adoption counseling, she tells visitors that I’m a miracle cat, and yes – it makes me blush!

The other great thing about the lobby is the food. I am no longer on the Suite A special gastrointestinal diet, so the kind volunteers who feed me give me an “endless buffet” that I can eat whatever I want. Please don’t tell my former roommates in Suite A, or they will be jealous. Because I am incontinent I leak a bit; this could pose some issues in the lobby, so I wear a cute diaper, or “diapie.” This is our secret since you are my sponsor: I know how to take the diapie off, because I am the feline Houdini! At night when I’m in my crate, I don’t have to wear the diapie. Ahhhhhh.

This brings me to my second world, the solarium!!! The solarium is still my happy place, and I look forward to my correspondent walking through the lobby, picking me up, and wrapping me in a towel like a baby – and off to the solarium we go. It’s so nice to see both familiar and new furry faces in Solarium A. I usually find a comfy spot on a cot to enjoy the fresh air. Once I settle in, I usually fall asleep. My only restriction is not climbing the walkway to the solarium tunnel. I could be seriously injured if I slipped. My watchful correspondent physically lays across the ramp, so I can’t climb it.

Staff and volunteers alike have been busy getting ready for the “Chip or Treat” event, which we held on 10/13. A community volunteer group planted mums, so the outside looks very pretty. I spotted hay bales and gourds — perfect for the event. What a pawsome way to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of Tabby’s Place! I was dressed in my favorite Halloween costume, a lil’ black and white cow!

Until next month, hope your Halloween is all treats, no tricks! Sending you extra sweet whisker kisses!
