Update for Rose

Update for Rose

Greetings, Sponsors!

Let’s continue the celebration this month y’all because this lil’ southern black and white “certified therapy feline” has some happy news to share with my favorite sponsors.  Typically, I save my monthly health report to the end of my update, but this month let’s turn things upside down.  The official Rose Health Update: ALL IS GREAT!  I feel amazing, my eyes sparkle, and my coat is nice and shiny.  My only change is dietary, as I no longer receive lunch.  Very few cats at Tabby’s Place receive lunch.  I was on the lunch plan after I was ill and needed to gain weight.  I am fine with that and am grateful that the staff looks out for my health.

“Rose Houdini” and the amazing diapie escape seems to be in the past.  Volunteer Sue, who always makes sure I have a bed in my crate for sleep time, is also a talented seamstress.  She tailored my diapies to fit my body, and they are more comfortable, and stay on!

The Kitten Shower & Adoption Event was held a few weeks ago, and this was my very first shower since becoming a resident of the lobby.  Y’all, I was honored to be one of the few cats who remained in the lobby during the shower.  I watched carefully how the volunteers and staff set everything up.  There were tables for refreshments, a playpen for kitten gifts, and a giant enclosure for kittens.  I saw a big table outside where my correspondent sold Tabby’s Place merchandise.  She assured me that she had previously bought Rose t-shirts in every color, a Rose travel mug, a Rose coffee mug, and a Rose tote bag.  She is planning on getting a Rose sweatshirt this winter.

I looked everywhere again this year for a mini-me kitten.  What I did find was a cookie that looked just like me!

I have not been close to li’l kittens in many moons.  I do declare, they are so tiny and move so fast.  I cautiously approached the kitten enclosure, expecting the kittens to greet me with a soft purr.  Instead, the kittens hissed at me, it was so funny, I nearly toppled over!  One of the volunteers captured a picture of my close encounter—enjoy!

It felt special when visitors asked volunteers about my story, and hearing about my health a year ago reminded me of how lucky I am to have you as my sponsor.  Your love and generosity helped to give me the gift of life.  I cannot say thank you enough!  During the kitten shower, I must have greeted a thousand (maybe a few less) visitors in the lobby.  After several hours of my “VIP meet and greet,” I was really tired and found a nice cat bed hidden away, to take a very long and well-deserved catnap.

Recently I took to the open highway with the Aged to Purrfection program.  Some cats don’t like to ride in the car, but I enjoy it.  Plus I get to wear my harness.  When we arrived at the senior center, a Tabby’s Place volunteer placed me in my stroller, and into the senior center we went like superheroes.  My furry face lit up when I saw the seniors smile as I approached them.  I enjoyed lots of lap time, purr therapy and petting.  It felt great to be petted, and even greater to know that I made the seniors feel happy.

Have you made all of your plans for the summer?  My plans involve a lot of fun, greeting visitors to Tabby’s Place, napping in the comfy lobby chairs, and having my correspondent rub my belly.  Should your travels take you to Tabby’s Place, I will be waiting in the lobby for you!

Enjoy the beauty of the summer and stay cool!  Sending you special July whisker kisses.

Love,
Rose
