Update for Rose

Love is in the air, y’all, and not just because Valentine’s Day is in the month of February. Where do I start? I can feel the love at every turn in Tabby’s Place.

I heard that my former Suite A friends and roommates Mary and Angelo now enjoy naps together. Love is in the air!

I think that this li’l Southern kitty can sense good energy in people. If I had such a “love meter,” it would ping loudly when I speak of you, my sponsor. I am a lucky kitty because I receive love from you 24/7, 365 days a year.

Your generosity provided me with the top-notch medical care that I needed to fight for my life in 2018. It was only a few weeks ago that my neurologist cleared me: no sign of any infection in my brain, and no lesions on my spine. Wow, without you, I might not be here. Thank you, and you know where this is going…would you be my Valentine?

This month is a special anniversary. In February 2014, my correspondent was asked by Development Director Angela to write my monthly sponsor updates (with my assistance, of course). At the time I was a li’l li’l li’l kitty with a long black tail (I think my tail was longer than my body, as you can see below!). I lived in the Tabby’s Place Special Needs Suite and was the new cat on the block. My correspondent took this assignment very seriously and came to my suite. She plopped down on the floor with notebook and pen in hand. Her goal was to observe and get to know me.

I am a very curious kitty, and I had to peek at what she wrote. “Sweet, sweet, sweet” was the bulk of what was written on the page. I had the perfect strategy on how to get to know one another, similar to how we operate in the South. I walked over to her, sat on the notebook, climbed on her lap, and her smile said it all. I think I even had a cat smile on my face!

We really hit it off, and the past 5 years have been amazing. I can always count on my correspondent to bring me to the solarium for fresh air, and for lots of human kisses. She even lets me know when someone leaves a nice comment about me on the Tabby’s Place Facebook page, which makes me blush.

I hope that you are having a mild winter. Ringoes has been chilly, but almost no snow. The good news is that the groundhog did not see his shadow, which means an early spring, which means, “solarium, here I come!”

Despite the cold, we have had many visitors and many adoptions. Now that I reside in the lobby, I am having so much fun greeting visitors and new volunteers. My favorite activity is running at warp speed from one end of the lobby to the other. A volunteer thought they saw black and white lightning. It was me!

In Pixie news, in addition to “turfing” with me, Pixie has been riling up tiny Jonathan. The solution: Pixie has been asked to stay in the Community Room with her friends.

There is an expression that humans use that I do not quite understand: “addressing the elephant in the room.” I reckon that I would be the first in line to welcome the elephant! That being said, there have been some comments that I might have gained a li’l weight. My correspondent says I look absolutely beautiful. I say this is my winter weight, so I can stay warm.

My health report this month is a bit different than most months. I have been having a chronic cough. Last week, I had a tracheal wash, and there were signs of inflammation. I will be following up with my veterinarian.

Hope that you had a sweet Valentine’s Day, my Valentine! Sending you whisker kisses!
