Dear Team Regina,
The Ides of March are upon us, and here in New Jersey, they came in like a lion—roaring winds and cold, cold air.
It’s been a very long winter, and Tabby’s Place residents, staff, and volunteers are eager for warm spring days. Sweet dreams of sunshine in the solariums and carriage rides around the property are part of every wistful cat nap. Oh, to watch a bird or butterfly in flight or see a bee settle softly on a flower in our memorial Cherny’s Garden! Regina and I hope you enjoy watching Mother Nature bringing our beautiful, verdant planet back to glorious life as much as we are. Regina has never had a stroller ride, so as you can imagine, she’s really looking forward to it!

Our Feline Valentine event last month was a tremendous success. As is her way, Regina was in the thick of the activity—the belle of the ball, so to speak. She very thoughtfully searched her ever-expanding wardrobe of “skoot skirts” for just the right outfit to highlight her beautiful eyes. And, much to our amazement, she did not attempt to wriggle out of her party attire to streak before a houseful of our guests. We’re not certain, but we think one of her more sedate and ladylike feline friends—Pepita, perhaps—may have given her a stern “talking to.” It’s very easy to imagine a world-wise gal like her softly purring, “Streaking, Regina, really? Why, it simply isn’t done.”
Nonetheless, Regina’s spirits soared as her wonderfully generous sponsors stepped forward to meet her—many for the very first time. She knows it costs a pretty penny to keep her healthy, well-manicured, beautifully coiffed, and dressed in the finest couture.
And, just between us, that svelte little figure of hers belies the fact that our active, athletic girl is quite a chowhound. She can carb load and protein pack with the best of ‘em, especially when she’s in training to fulfill her Olympic dreams. We appreciate you for providing the funds that keep both Regina and her dreams thriving. Thank you!
Recently, Regina had a few episodes of diarrhea, so she is now adjusting to a new GI Biome diet. Since the other cats in her suite are not on this regimen, she is crated at meal times. So far, this special diet seems to be helping her gastrointestinal system remain settled and happy. And, of course, raising happy and healthy cats and kittens is what Tabby’s Place is all about.

Fit as a fiddle in all other respects, Regina will not surprise us if she soon asks to sign up for a 5K Easter egg roll somewhere in our local area. Secretly, some of the staff and volunteers are hoping that, in addition to a first-place gold medal, Regina might find some chocolate eggs and bunnies among her prizes. Since such goodies are neither safe for cats nor on her training diet, we would happily take them off her hands—paws, I meant paws. I’m sure we’ll have to do some negotiating to get her to give up the goodies: her chocolates for her own personal bag of cat treats (shrimp or seafood preferred). Our glamorous girl does indeed know what she likes—no every day, ordinary kibble for her!
Thank you for your devotion and generosity to dear Regina!
Wishing you all the best of this spring…
Your correspondent,
Tina
