Dear Special Friends of Pepita and Tabby’s Place,
Happy August to you. Even in an exceptionally hot summer, the solarium still holds a special place for our sweet Pepita. She spends as much time as possible outdoors, no matter the heat.
But earlier this month, when a tornado watch was in effect, Pepita had the opportunity to participate in the Tabby’s Place tornado watch protocol. Our emergency preparedness policy dictates that all cats must be moved indoors, and the solariums locked, when a tornado watch is in effect. I think she knows it was in her best interest, but she was definitely happy when she could return to the solarium.
The solarium crowd is growing quite a bit in Pepita’s suite. While it was often just Hazey and Pepita hanging out there when they were in Suite A, now Malora and Vinnie are also regulars, with Lily making appearances as well. Time will tell how Pepita feels about sharing her favorite space.
And, just to make things interesting, two youngsters recently graduated from the Kitten Suite to join the big time, moving into Pepita’s suite.
Boa and Adder were moved because their chronic upper respiratory infections were getting all the other kittens sick. Adult cats have stronger immune systems, so we hope that this situation will be better for all. They are active and playful, and I’m sure they will attract a lot of attention from visitors. Pepita will want to be sure she still gets her fair share, but that won’t be a problem with her irresistible, adorable face.
Did you know that July 24 was International Self-Care Day, marking the end of Self-Care Month? You may have seen the Tabby’s Place Facebook post marking the occasion. We highlighted Pepita’s favorite ways to treat herself: “Pepita believes in manifesting: she pictures herself on top of the world and enjoys a nice spa treatment like a good brushing.”
This girl certainly knows how to take care of herself, soaking in the attention and love from all the volunteers and visitors, and enjoying the “beach weather” this summer. She wants to know that you are also taking good care of yourself.
Our gentle feline has been in good health and fine spirits this month. This is possible because of your love and devotion. By sharing your heart and your generous nature, you ensure Pepita gets the best possible care, and that Tabby’s Place continues its mission.
We send our thanks to you for making the future so bright for so many special cats and kittens.
We hope you relish in the rest of the summer and look forward to bringing you more Pepita news next month.
Your correspondent,
Sheila
