Happy Thanksgiving Month, Friends of Pepita!
I’m back in the correspondent’s seat this month and happy to bring you the latest news about our sweet girl, the girl who captures the hearts of everyone who meets her.
Thank you to Angela for writing last month’s update and reminding us, with her incredibly touching words, of all of Pepita’s amazing traits.
Pepita has been in both good health and in good spirits. There have been a number of beautiful fall days this past month, providing for lounging in the coveted solarium, where her heart sings as she breathes the fresh air and watches the leaves turn, drop, and skip across the Memorial Walkway to Cherny’s Garden, right outside her suite’s solarium.
From that long stretch of perfect days, we’ve now gone on a bit of a roller coaster, and some days Pepita just decides to curl up in a cozy bed inside the suite. We’re setting up the heated pads in the solarium and the water dishes that keep the water from freezing.
One volunteer mentioned that Pepita was actually in the suite window looking into the entry hall, watching everything and everyone. That’s an unusual spot for her—sitting up on the cat tree, perfect and pretty as you please. Later, when the volunteer went to visit, Pepita was curled up inside one of those grey condo cubes where the lid doubles as a cat bed. She was awake, so the volunteer took the lid off to give her some love. It’s a sign of the season that Pepita opted to be indoors. It’s a sign of how settled the suite is that she was happy to pick a cozy spot on the floor instead of on the ramp.
Though her suite may be settled, with everyone co-existing peacefully, Tabby’s Place is a-hopping! This Sunday (11/19), from 1 -4 p.m., we will host Thanksgiving with The Cats, a heartwarming event where visitors can meet the cats, take part in a silent auction, enjoy refreshments, and even feed the kitties (those not on restrictive diets) bits of turkey in commemoration of the upcoming special holiday. And, of course, be greeted with head butts, whisker kisses and cuddles. Visitors are asked to bring a bit of cat food, treats, toys, or non-clumping litter as a Thanksgiving donation for the season. We would love to see you on Sunday if you are in the area… and Pepita will be ready to spread some love to all those who visit.

One of my favorite Thanksgiving quotes, that I’m guessing I may have shared with you in the past, comes from Rumi: “Wear gratitude like a cloak and it will feed every corner of your life.”
We are incredibly grateful for your ongoing love of Pepita and of Tabby’s Place. Our work would be impossible without your kind hearts and steadfast generosity. We hope you can feel the cloak of our gratitude draped over your shoulders, giving you the biggest hug there is!
Wishing you a bountiful and love-filled Thanksgiving from all of us here at Tabby’s Place, and special nuzzles from our gentle Pepita.
Your correspondent,
Sheila
