Update for Pepita

To all Pepita’s Valentines,

Your furry bundle of love is sending you kitty kisses and head rubs too numerous to count, and hopes you find this month of love to be warm and wonderful for you and those dear to you!

Tabby’s Place is decorated for Valentine’s day, with festive hearts strung across the lobby and red and pink everywhere!!  But the real love at Tabby’s Place is in the day-to-day devotion and deep caring I see bestowed upon each and every kitty from all the staff and numerous volunteers. It makes my heart smile to see so much love in one place.  Pepita gets more than her fair share of love as she has many devotees, such as you.  She and we are all so grateful to have you in her life.

This past month was a little rough for Pepita on the health front.  She lost some weight and seemed a little depressed. I found her inside snoozing more than out in the solarium, but that could be attributed to the up-and-down temperatures in this season we are calling winter.  Luckily it has been mild so far, so we await the ‘in like a lion’ part of March. No real snow yet, so I expect we will have a bundle of it in March!

Pepita’s blood work looked good but, after a long stretch of no urinary tract infections (UTIs), a very bad one caught up with her, which she has been battling. The stellar vet team here has her on meds and is rechecking her urine regularly, so this too shall pass, but we hate to know she is suffering.  Her hair loss is still evident and unexplained. She has a very interesting reverse mohawk going down her lower back, which makes me chuckle a bit. It does not seem to bother her at all, and for that we are grateful.

A new addition to Pepta’s suite is Wonton, who was a stray that came to Tabby’s Place a while back with terrible dental issues and a horrendous ear polyp.  The polyp was removed and the ear infection was treated. He then had a dental procedure with many extractions that were quite difficult.  He is finally doing well and integrating into Suite A as the diet in that suite is best for him.  I hope he does well in there and I hope Pepita is welcoming.

“They invented hugs to let people know you love them without saying anything,” says Bil Keane.  If you stop by for a visit, know that Pepita’s hugs also come in the form of head bonks, purrs, rubbing her body all over you, and nose-to-nose touches!  She sends all that to you and more, in thanks for all you do for her! Have a wonderful month of love. Until next time…
