Update for Patchy

Update for Patchy

I’m Michelle, a volunteer at Tabby’s Place.
I offered to write updates for Patchy, since I think he is one of the most fun cats at Tabby’s Place.

Because of his terrible skin condition, Patchy had oozing sores on his abdomen and he had to be kept in a cage, to reduce the chances of infection.
But after he got his injection of steroids, his skin started to clear up and the staff wanted to move him into a suite, so he could enjoy himself.
But Patchy was on a special diet for his skin and this meant he couldn’t be in a typical suite, where the cats always have food available.

After some thought, they decided to move Patchy in with Ozzie, who is on her own special diet, due to diabetes.
Several times a day, we put Patchy or Ozzie into a crate and give them each their own special food.

When Patchy first moved in, Ozzie was not at all happy about it. She was so upset that she coudln’t even stand to hear Patchy breathing.
It took a week or so, but now they tolerate each other well.

Patchy loves attention and when I look in his suite he jumps up, runs to the door and greets me noisily.
He likes to sit on my lap and be petted.
He is also a bit of a comedian, as you can see in the photo above.
It is hard to tell, but this photo was taken looking down at the floor and Patchy is peeking out one of the cubby holes and staring upward.

Patchy’s heart disease is in the very early stages
and he has absolutely no symptoms or limitations at this point in time.
