A sunny, warm, and fuzzy April hello from me to you, my amazing sponsor!
I am hoping you can fill me in a little on what is going on out in the world here in quiet little Ringoes, New Jersey.
I really do not understand what I feel when the lobby doors open. One day it is so warm, and the next day we are hit with arctic chills of cold air.
What the heck??
Seeing our receptionist Sharon’s calendar turn to April, I really thought spring was here. Yet we still need our heated pads on the cat beds to snuggle and stay warm.
Sadly, all the snowstorms seem to be just a memory now, which means we have not had another sleepover with our staff. I say, “BooHoo” to that!
Well, this past month has been quite eventful for me medically. But not to worry — it’s nothing serious, and I am OK!
I have been pulling at my hair a lot more, and so I’m desperately in need of some back scratches to ease my twitchiness. Even with a new medication, I have not been feeling myself.
On top of that, I developed a urinary tract infection (not fun!) and needed antibiotics. But, my beloved staff is keeping a close eye on me and assures me I will be right to reign again real soon!

The end of March brought to a close our version of March Madness, with the final voting in our Facebook “Meow Madness Salute to the Seniors” championship.
So, did you hear who was crowned this year’s champion? Of course, it was me! Or at least I think it was me? Wait, it wasn’t me? But the cat pictured as the Senior Champion is a black and white tuxedo, just like me.
Well, huh! The champion is somebody named Tux. I was so sure it was me, as I rightfully deserved. Nonetheless, the winner this year is a gorgeous tuxedo cat, and I guess I have to graciously say, deserving of the title (and an elderly senior for sure at 22 years old …. yikes, that is nearly double my age!). So, congratulations, Tux, on being the 2026 champion.
Now, mark my words, next year the title will be mine, with the sparkly tiara that goes with it!!!
Do you remember when I told you what a downer our Executive Director is, and how I had to promise him I would not make any more crazy wishes to the sky? Well, let’s just keep this between us, but I made another wish!!
When the warm air seeped into the lobby, I could not resist wishing that I could have some little outdoor enrichment time. It has been such a long time since they took me out and set me up in a protective play yard with a blanket in the grass. How I enjoy smelling the fresh air and gazing up into the sky, watching the birds and the butterflies. I am really putting all my hopes on having an outdoor exploration story to share with you next month!

Oh, we celebrated National Respect Your Cat Day on March 28th. If I am going to be honest, every day around here is Respect the Tabby’s Place Cats Day. We are just so loved and well taken care of, all day, every day. Our meals arrive on time and without fail (though treats are perhaps not as abundant as I would like). There are soft laps and cat beds, and plenty of toys. We just walk around here like we own the place!
We appreciate the care and love that we are given, and reciprocate in our own special ways! Of course, the wonderful care we receive would not be possible without our sponsors and donors, and we are thankful to everyone, especially you, for their generous kindness and love!
This month, Tabby’s Place opened Perry’s Pantry. Lending a hand to the community, this pantry is stocked with all kinds of pet food, litter, and toys for those in need. I am looking for a huge favor— please check it out and let me know if there are treats in the pantry. If so, please grab me a bag! Any flavor will do—I need me some treats!

We have a special event coming up soon, and I hope you will take a moment to celebrate with us! May 3rd is National Specially-Abled Pets Day. I can hardly believe there is a day to honor felines like me, along with my friends Colonel Peabody, Willow, Berry, and Luna, the Official Lobby Paraplegic Club, who live out wonderful lives with our special needs and abilities. I hope you will stay tuned until next month to hear more about our celebration—and I hope they will let us have cake and ice cream!
Sending you my love and blessings for a wonderful month ahead. I am so grateful and appreciative of your love and support. Thank you for being YOU! You make the world a brighter and happier place, and you are appreciated today, tomorrow, and always.
Until next month…
Lots of love,
Queen Olive
(With help from your correspondent and my companion, Elizabeth)
PS: Have you ever yearned to care for the cats in a hands-on way? Please consider joining us for our April 25th Volunteer Recruitment Open House from noon to 4 pm. We’d be over the moon to have you with us as a volunteer! But know this: even if you live an ocean away, you are right here with us every day, personally caring for the cats through your generosity. What an honor it is to serve them with you!
