Update for Olive

A Dandy Candy Cane December to you, my dear, devoted sponsor!

Boy, have we jumped tail-first into the holiday season around here. Unfortunately, we are also freezing our tails with a cold spell here in festive little Ringoes, New Jersey.

Last week, we even woke up to see the parking lot covered with that fun, fluffy white snowy stuff. One of my favorite napping beds is right by our entrance. I feel the blast of arctic air when the lobby doors open … but I’m not taking any chances missing a visitor!

The last month has been a flurry of activity! With the ringworm outbreak behind us, we’re happily welcoming visitors once again. There is always someone to see and greet, and I have been well and up to performing all my Queenly Lobby duties.

I did learn one valuable lesson, though. If I vacate my favorite bed for any length of time, it is fair game for another feline.  If I try to reclaim my spot, I am told, “Move your meat, lose your seat.” This is not an acceptable response.  Seriously, who even says something like that?  While laughing and lounging in my favorite bed!??!

What do you two think you are doing in my bed?

Our Thanksgiving with the Cats open house was such a fabulous event!  We are so grateful for the hundreds of visitors who stopped in to see us, brought donations, and fed us yummy turkey treats!

Sadly, we lobby kitties were temporarily relocated, because there were more than a few well-warranted concerns that we might not be on our best behavior (or safe) with so much coming and going.

We all know that, when faced with temptation, Hips and some of our other lobby runners cannot be trusted to actually stay in the lobby.  And, even though I promised to be on my best behavior, I heard there was a little question whether I could be trusted all day.

So if you missed seeing me, please do stop in another time when you are in the area so we can have a little private one-on-one visit!  I am always happy to greet you!

Celebrating World Olive Day.  Hmmm… this smells a bit like catnip!

I had the best time celebrating one of my favorite holidays on November 26th.  This incredibly important day is marked as World Olive Day!   Can you believe there is a day named after me, and devoted to sweet little me?

Yeah, Elizabeth can’t believe it either…  she says it is actually World Olive “Tree” Day.

But, ya know, I think that is too much of a mouthful, so I am going to stick with World Olive Day.  This day is such a big deal, I circled it in red on our receptionist Sharon’s calendar.  I asked her every day for weeks if it was November 26th yet, because I was so afraid I might miss it!

She politely told me, more than once, that I sounded like a broken record, and she would make sure I did not miss my day!

I tried again this year to get an Olive tree delivered to have in the center of my lobby, but of course, that delivery was “delayed” and never arrived.  Some people around here are such downers when it comes to anything fun!

But that’s OK, as my girl Elizabeth has me covered, and she managed to get me the next best thing:  olive tree branches!

Now, I  hate to admit this, but I do actually kinda see a resemblance between the olives on the branches and beautiful little me.  If my legs were green, it would be like I was just plucked off a branch!  What do you think???

Well, yes, there is an olive-like resemblance

Then, the very next day, we all gathered around and had our own Thanksgiving.  It was a great day, filled with yummy treats, long naps, and the holiday specials everyone loves:  Pancake, Cornbread  Chicken Nugget, Berry, Taylor Ham, Brownie, Lornadoone, and of course, most important, me (Olive)!

We each took a moment to be grateful for the safe life, full of love, that we enjoy here at Tabby’s Place.  Personally, I am grateful for everyone who visits with me, and even more importantly, for my devoted and kind sponsors.  I am truly thankful for you, not just on Thanksgiving, but on all the other days of the kitty calendar!

Happy Thanksgiving! (Please do not eat the Olives!)

And, I have to tell you, I have been on my best behavior these last few weeks!   Everyone keeps telling me that this fluffy, jolly guy in a red suit keeps a list of who is naughty and who is nice. Have you heard that those of us on the naughty list will not get nearly as many treats?   Do you think this is true?

I think they are just pulling my tail to get me to be a little more cooperative when my bladder is expressed (and to stop screaming so loud that their eardrums may burst).  But hey, if it will get me more treats, I just might have to try my best to be on the nice list.  For a little while, anyway!

As we roll through the last few days of December, Elizabeth and I, along with the entire awesome staff and all the volunteers of Tabby’s Place, would like to take a moment to wish you the most blessed holiday season.

We are ever so grateful to you and for your continued support and devotion to Tabby’s Place.  May 2026 be a healthy and happy New Year that brings you peace, and much joy and prosperity.

With warm festive love,
Olive
