Update for Newman

Dear wonderful Newman supporters,

Happy New Year!

Our Newman has made himself quite at home here in the FIV suite. During one of my recent visits, he just didn’t seem to have a need to move at all. You see, he had settled in for a nap, and that’s all there was to say about that! While he was quite interested in the fact that I was there, it just didn’t seem necessary to actually get up. This was such a wonderful and unexpected gift – to see that Newman is getting all the attention he needs and wants from us human beans that he shares this planet with. He has learned to trust that he doesn’t need attention right now, but that someone who loves him will always be there when he craves some people time.

Newman had a busy month on the medical front. He started the month with an upper respiratory infection (URI) and needed antibiotics to clear it up. Sometimes, antibiotics can give a cat diarrhea; Newman, as we know, usually gets runny poo all on his own. Perhaps unexpectedly, the antibiotics actually helped Newman’s gastrointestinal tract, and his diarrhea cleared up along with the URI!

Once all of that was over and we thought he was in the clear, Newman came down with a nasty eye infection, with lots of swelling and a green-colored discharge. After spending most of the month taking several eye medications, he is finally infection free once again. All is well in Newman land.

During my recent post-recovery visit to the FIV suite, Newman was back to his mushy, content self, looking adorable, curled up on a chair, hugging his own happy head.

Thank you for supporting Newman and giving him your gift of love. May you be blessed each and every day!
