Update for Morgan

NOTE: the photo is of a volunteer taking a much-needed break after doing laundry.
Morgan was kind enough to join him for a snooze. 🙂

For the past few months, there has been a lot going on, and things are more hectic than usual.
As a result, I have been trying to take more spontaneous “cat” breaks.

Here’s how it works:

  1. I stand up from my desk and wander into the Lobby.
  2. I slowly scan the Suites and Lobby and allow a cat to “come in to my mind.”
  3. I go to that cat and park myself for some quailty smooshing time.

It is a very refreshing activity and never fails to re-center me.

As you can imagine, we have an embarrassment of riches in terms of potential feline candidates.
But, in any cases of doubt, you can’t go wrong with Morgan.

The other day I sat down in the Lobby to read something. Within 30 seconds, Morgan was up and by my side, chirping away contentedly.
He tucked himself in under my left arm, and we spent a good 10 minutes like that.
Morgan’s large size makes him an ideal rest-mate. You can really nestle into him without fear of hurting him.

I was reminded yet again of the rare blessing of being able to spend such simple, mindful time with such an amazing creature.
No complications; no ulterior motives; no sense of urgency.

“I have lived with several Zen masters — all of them cats.”
