A few weeks ago, I was on AM Rounds and had drawn the Community Cats (AM and PM Rounds require two people: one does Suites, the other does Community Cats, the cats in the Lobby, Community Room, Lounge and Adoption Rooms).
I always start in the Lobby, and this means pilling Morgan.
Since Morgan had once again become easygoing about taking meds, I expected no difficulty.
To my surprise, I could not find Morgan.
I looked in all the usual places, including his hiding spot behind the file cabinet.
No luck.
Being a wise human, I widened my search to spots in the Lobby where “no cat could fit.”
I am a veteran of many cat searches and know of their uncanny ability to fit into spaces that are far too small for them.
But, no Morgan.
I doubled back and searched the Lobby again.
Nothing.
I gave up temporarily and decided to recheck later.
Next was the Community Room.
I didn’t look there before, because Morgan never leaves the Lobby.
Of course, who was sitting right smack in the middle on the meeting table: Morgan.
In my shock, I hesitated just long enough for him to take off.
He headed under the table, which is a great strategy, because the table is big enough for a cat to scoot back and forth for hours.
I was ready to give up and headed back to the Lobby.
Just as the door was closing behind me, Morgan shot back into the Lobby, jumped onto a chair and waited patiently for his medications.
I stumbled on this quote, which sums it up nicely, I think:
A cat is a puzzle for which there is no solution.
