Update for Luna

Dear Team Luna,

Happy Valentine’s Day greetings to all you purrrrfectly wonderful Luna lovers!  Our pretty little kitty hopes you find Cupid in your corner this frigid February and that you are bundled up snugly, all cozy and warm.  Luna wishes you lives full of light and love and, perhaps, even a few chocolate hearts or bonbons for good measure. After all, even Luna appreciates a good treat—hypoallergenic, of course!

Although their relationship is strictly platonic, Luna and Angelo continue to be cuddle buddies in the lab.  Angelo simply adores his delightfully feminine feline friend and lavishes her with all the tender devotion he can muster. In fact, Angelo is not at all happy that Luna is sequestered in the surgery room to sleep alone at night. He has begun to urinate frequently outside her door at night.  We’re not sure if this intended to impress Luna, but it certainly hasn’t impressed the medical suite staff.

For her part, Luna thinks of Angelo with fondness and benevolent affection.  Her true love is reserved for her patients and her compassionate and generous sponsors—yes, you!  It really is amazing how much love this little miracle worker has to pass around.  Luna deeply cares about each and every cat, kitten, and human being that crosses the threshold at Tabby’s Place.  Certainly, she can sometimes be a bit bossy and officious, but the depth of her concern for others is beyond question or reproach.  Conducting vital clinical research and getting things done in the lab in an efficient, timely manner are merely more ways she goes above and beyond in showing her love for all of us.

A healthy cat is a happy cat, and this month Luna and Angelo are both (except for the peeing thing).  While Olive was quarantined again for a suspected ringworm lesion, there was no impact in the medical suite where Luna and Angelo live.  Both of our lab cats are in tip-top shape and able to diligently perform their duties to everyone’s satisfaction. This is a truly wonderful thing because, as we look ahead to the opening of the new wing, we realize how much new work will soon be coming our way.  The days ahead will be both highly demanding and fulfilling, so we will need each and every member of the Tabby’s Place team capable of performing at their best. As you can well imagine, this is a challenge to which Luna particularly looks forward, one which will require great things from her.   She is really looking forward to providing care for all the tiny neonatal kittens we hope to accommodate.  It seems our hardworking, feminist feline career cat has even more of a motherly side than we could have even imagined!

Thanks again from the bottom of our hearts for all you do to support Luna’s care and all her many projects.  She knows, as we do, that she couldn’t do it without you.

Tina
