Update for Luna

Dear Team Luna,

Well, it’s officially autumn and not a moment too soon!  What a joy it is to be outside with no heat, no humidity, and no more storms like Hurricane Ida.  Stroller walks are so much more pleasant for Luna and all of the cats at Tabby’s Place when it’s cool and comfortable. And there is so much to see: colorful falling, whirling leaves, birds beginning their migration south, and, yes, even the ongoing construction of Quinn’s Corner.  September closed with the laying of drainage pipes for the solariums and the pouring of the new foundation.  Of course, it is all very exciting! It was quite a sight to see the cement crane pump in action.

Luna is a bit miffed that her construction helmet has yet to arrive, but we’ve assured her that custom orders do take time.  She can’t strap on a tool belt and direct the construction team right now, as is her wont, but she gets by with watching from afar.  All we can tell her is “Darn those supply line shortages! Luna, we’re sure it’ll be here soon.”

One thing definitely NOT in short supply around Tabby’s Place are generous donors.  We can safely say all of our friends and supporters are very, very good to us.  People like you make all the difference in the world to cats with special needs. This year’s Linda Fund Matching Challenge was our most successful ever! The Challenge just closed and let’s just say Luna and her friends are proudly purring with pure joy—we reached our goal for this special challenge to raise funds for the medical needs of our kitties.  Luna encourages you to visit our Facebook page to stay up to date on all the Tabby’s Place news!  Luna just loves it when we get lots of hits!  As our fabulous little feline research assistant always says, “Inquiring minds want to know!”  There really is so much going on at Tabby’s Place right now that she doesn’t want you to miss a minute of it.

Luna’s so excited about all this that she shows her joy by chasing her tail! See what I mean in the video below.

More great news: The antibiotic medications Luna was taking for a bacterial infection in her left ear have worked! Both of her ears continue to look great, and she has been able to discontinue the ear drops altogether.  Volunteers and staff walking by the medical center swear they’ve heard her hooting and hollering, “Hoorah!” in private when she thinks no one is listening.  Being the stoic gal she is, she would never admit to breaking decorum with such outbursts, but we know we’ve heard her.

And Angelo seems to be beaming a bit brighter lately, too.  When Lady Luna’s happy, everybody’s happy and the sweet boy couldn’t be more pleased for his new pal.  Since Angelo isn’t one to jump up on counters and stools, we can also safely leave Luna’s kibble out and elevated throughout the day. This contributes immeasurably to her more cheerful disposition and, on the whole, she’s been very well behaved this month.

She really enjoys her unsupervised rounds through the medical suite and the freedom it gives her to oversee every last detail of the operation. Sure, there are no longer any “bubbles” to bite in the now carefully closeted lab equipment.  All our bags of saline remain intact, but these minor details will never put an end to Luna’s lust for experimentation and willingness to put in a hard day’s work.  And for that, you can imagine we are forever grateful—just as our girl continues to be for your ongoing, loving support.
