Update for Lester

Dear friends,

It looks like I jumped the gun when I wrote last month that peace was restored to the FIV+ suite. You see, we have two new arrivals: Jake and JJ. Like many of our new arrivals, these guys are sweet. But to some of our not-so-new guys (I’m looking at you, Rufus), change is scary and new furry faces lead to stress, which leads to fighting. When the fighting begins, especially anywhere near me, I get agitated and may join the fight.

In a recent scuffle, poor Arlo received serious bite wounds on his hind end. He is now crated and healing well. Though I overheard the staff saying that Rufus is a prime suspect, they’re not 100% certain who took a bite out of Arlo, and I felt my face flush when eyes slowly gazed my way. So when my correspondent asked me to smile for a photo, I crossed my paws and gave my most dignified look of innocence.

I think it’s safe to say that everyone is hoping things stay calm in our suite. The kind staff is working diligently with Rufus to teach him better manners. I’ve got my paws crossed that Rufus, like Knickers, will be adopted into a happy, loving home as an only cat real soon.

In other news, Tabby’s Place is having a Kitten Shower on Saturday, June 22nd. There’s nothing cuter than fuzzy piles of little kittens romping all over adoring humans. If you plan to attend, please stop by and visit me so I can show you some love. If you can’t make it, I’m still sending you my deep love and appreciation for all that you do for me.

Big hugs,
Lester
(with help from your correspondent, Mary)
