Update for Lester

Dear sponsors,

My regular correspondent isn’t available this month, so Wolfie kindly loaned me his secretary. Actually, I think Lynn probably volunteered to do the job, because I know she really likes me. In fact, I think she spends much more time with me than she does with Wolfie.

On the medical front, I get to share some wonderful news. As you know, I suffered from diarrhea, a very embarrassing problem, for quite awhile. The fantastic news is that my special diet is working! I’ve heard that I now have “perfect stool.” You might be surprised, but that’s a big deal around here. I know it made the staff members happy, and I’m a lot happier, too!

So far, I don’t think even one of my suitemates knows that I’m the one responsible for the sudden, mysterious disappearance of their “All You Can Eat Buffet.” I think Hocus misses the buffet the most. He might be a little guy, but he always seems ready for a snack. I’ve noticed Lynn occasionally trying to sneak him some treats. She also gives treats to Bo, Newman, Wolfie, and even Buddy, but she never gives any to me! Why am I deprived of the goodies? I always make it obvious that I’d like some. I know Lynn loves me, but she manages to resist all my pleading looks. I guess treats aren’t on my new diet.

I’m usually a mellow fellow, but I have to admit that I’ve had some problems with Newman and Buddy. For some reason, they get on my nerves. When that happens, I must admit that I’m not always on my best behavior. My way of dealing with them is to swat at them. It doesn’t seem to bother Newman too much, but I’ve noticed that Buddy tries to stay away from me. They’re both really nice guys. I have to work on controlling my temper. Friends are important, and I want to be a good friend.

This summer has been splendid! Like most of my feline friends, I’ve been spending a great deal of my time in our wonderful solarium. I love stretching out on a soft blanket, napping on a sunny afternoon. James Herriot once said, “Cats are connoisseurs of comfort.” I’m not sure if I’m a connoisseur, but I certainly like to be comfortable. I’d noticed that Mona frequently enjoys napping in an igloo, and I thought I’d give that a try for a change. I discovered it wasn’t the best place to stretch out for a nap. It didn’t take a visitor too long to coax me out of there. Next time, do you think I should try the larger igloo?

I’ve also enjoyed gazing out at the lush, green field behind the sanctuary. Being a former Brooklyn boy, I grew up in a city and never had a chance to enjoy the country life until I came here. I thought it might be nice to be outside, running freely through that field. Then, I remembered life on the outside wasn’t so great, and my wanderlust quickly vanished. I have a great life right here at Tabby’s Place, and, until someone adopts me, I’m perfectly content to remain right where I am.

I especially enjoy afternoons when people come to visit us in our solarium. I love running over to the door to greet visitors. I think Newman and I are the unofficial greeters of the FIV Suite, because we’re usually the first ones at the door to welcome any guests. Whether they play with us, pet us, brush us, or just talk to us doesn’t matter. The important thing is they come to spend time with us, and that makes us all feel very special.

If you ever have a chance to visit us, I’d love to welcome you and spend time with you. I hope you realize how special you are. Without your love and support, where would I be? Thank you so much for all you enable Tabby’s Place to do for all of us.

Love,
Lester
