Dear friends,

The FIV+ Suite continues to be a peaceful oasis with only five of us residing here at the moment. It may be hard to imagine five FIV+ boys as peaceful, but there are a few things that contribute to this:

• The first is behavior meds. My old friend, Toby, and Wilson are on behavior meds to keep their tomboy ways in check and help keep the peace.
• The second is one who loves all cats. Clarence loves other cats, so he’s easy, though he seems to be terrified of people. That’s fine by me because it means less competition for human affection. Clarence LOVES the Solarium, so you’ll almost always find him there, but he’s a scaredy-cat, so if you visit, please spend time with me instead 😊.
• The last is a quiet cat who mostly keeps to himself. Cecil is a sweet guy with a crumpled ear. Someday I’m hoping he’ll tell me the story behind the crumpled ear, like maybe a bar fight at the cat-food buffet or street gang initiation, but for now, he’s keeping quiet about it. He’s a bit nervous, which probably contributes to his GI issues, for which he’s on a prescription diet.

All this bliss may be short-lived. I hear there’s a new FIV+ guy in the holding area named Spaghetti. I’m not sure I can trust a cat named after a messy noodle. For now, I’m embracing the zen and enjoying the long summer days.
