Update for Kitten Fund

Hello, lovers of little ones,

Tiny Marmalade in her sweet glory

September brings the changing of the seasons. The nights begin to become cooler and longer, and the leaves will soon begin to change colors. Many of our new cats seem to be heralds of Autumn with their pumpkin(spice)-colored coats and cornucopia of stories and personalities.

This month we have welcomed several new kittens. The McDonalds Crew came in early this month. Welcome, Chicken McNugget (male), McFlurry (female), and McMuffin (male). We also have a new ginger trio: Fluff (male), Marmalade (female), and Jam (male). Lastly, we have two solo kittens Stella and Orzo (male). We are currently working on locating Orzo’s two siblings and hope to reunite the little family. All of our newbies seem to be healthy and extremely cute.

Orzo needs to pack on some pounds to be as pudgy as his pasta namesake

Little tuxedo Paige is still with us. She is very sweet but also very shy. She has made a lot of progress in her foster home, but unfortunately, her adoption didn’t work out. She has currently joined the kitties in our Community Room and we hope that she will find some good feline and human companions there. We know that the right home is out there for her, but she needs a patient adopter who is willing to meet her where she is and work to break through her outer shell of shyness.

All of the Disney+ babies have found their homes! Mickey and Daisy will be going home together and little Minnie was also just put on adoption hold. Minnie will likely be adopted with another kitten. Momma Disney will be spayed and returned to her colony where she can live a happy, carefree life with no more kittens.

Ginger brothers Tig and Tuck were adopted together and are thriving in their new home. We are glad that, with the care of a foster home, they were able to recover from their rough start and find a forever home.

Our Special Needs kittens are doing well. Heather (now Hetty, as we have another resident cat with the same name) and Tempura will be going for a neuro consult at the vet hospital very soon. Both of them are happy, beautiful little ladies and we are hopeful that they will have wonderful lives ahead of them.

Rosita begging to play!

Rosita is still a bit of a challenge behaviorally, but she is doing better with a combination of medication, a space of her own in the feral room, and enrichment with the staff. We have discovered that Rosita loves “hunting” and playing with her wand toys. She loves it when we play with a wand toy with a mouse on a string, and throw the mouse on top of her cat tree so she can climb and “catch” her “prey.” Every time anyone comes into the hospital area, she meows at the door, wanting to play. She still can be very nippy and tends to bite at hands if you reach down towards her, but we are working with her to develop proper boundaries with people.

Thank you for your continued support of our smallest residents.
