Update for Kitten Fund

Greetings, fans of small furry creatures,

Cayenne (light grey tabby) and Rocco (all grey)

It has been a busy, busy month for us in terms of kittens!

Luann, Sonja, and Bethenny of the real housewives went home and their remaining brother, Rocco, is on hold.

Cayenne, the last nugget of the Spice Babies gang, is also on adoption hold. After all of her siblings were adopted, she joined Rocco and Sonja but we are happy that now they all have forever homes!

Tallulah was just adopted by our Volunteer Director, who was fostering her since her arrival. Tallulah came to us very sick and weak at just a few weeks old. She had a terrible upper respiratory infection and needed daily treatments to try and unclog her sinuses as well as antibiotics to fight the infection. We were hoping that, with treatment, Tallulah would be a perfectly healthy little one.

Tallulah is a little fighter

Unfortunately, her URI persisted long enough that we brought her to a specialist to see why she was not getting better. An exploratory exam showed that she likely has rhinitis—chronic inflammation in the nose and throat—and that she would likely need special care for the rest of her life. Luckily for Tallulah, she will be well taken care of by one of our staff members and already has befriended several of her new feline housemates—including Tabby’s Alum Tanzy, who is very picky about her company.

Luke and Leia

The Circus Crew—Jester, Barnum, and Bailey are also doing well. Jester is already on hold but Barnum and Bailey are looking for their forever homes.

This month we also welcomed two new litters: The Star Wars Rebels and the Power Puff Girls (and Boy). These little cuties are happy and healthy little ones who were trapped outside and just need a little bit of socialization and love before they head off to forever homes. So far, Han, Leia, and Chewy are already on hold, just leaving little Luke. Bubbles, Buttercup, and Utonium (our solo boy from their litter) are also on hold with just Blossom left looking for a home.

Tuck and Tip are two orange brothers that are in foster with our veterinarian. Tuck was brought to Dr. C after his litter began to have health troubles. Tuck is a bit small and skinny for his age, but he has begun to recover. Tip is luckily a healthy young boy. We are hoping these two find homes very soon!

In addition to these two litters, we also had two special single kittens come into our care.

Rosita is an approximately 10-month-old oriental shorthair calico. She was found outside by local animal control and very recently had a litter of kittens despite her tender age.  Rosita was clearly anxious to have been separated from her kittens and was nervous when she first arrived. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to locate her babies. This is the sad reality of working with stray and community cats. We are hoping that she will be able to be spayed soon and that she can head off to a forever home and never have to worry about being a mom again.

Sweet Tempura

Tempura is an adorable little orange girl with some significant neurological issues. She is currently unable to walk or stand and often flops on her side. We have yet to determine if the cause of her issues is injury, poison, or a neurological condition (such as Cerebellar Hypoplasia). She is currently in foster care with one of our vet techs, and we are hoping that we are able to find the right diagnosis and treatment so that she will be able to live a healthy life.

Thank you for continuing to support our Kitten Fund! We are clearly in the middle of kitten season and we would not be able to rescue the precious little ones without your continued financial support!
