Update for Hips

My love, Prescott, is exploring in the Community Room and enjoying its big window

Hips’ Happenings #31

Happy August, Dear Sponsors and Tabby’s Place fans!

I hope this last month of summer is treating you well.

Well, you might think that things have sort of settled down around here, since the temperatures are so very hot outside and all of us at the sanctuary are in slow-mo mode.

But, not so.  You see, there are two topics I want to share with you.

First, my dear Prescott has become an explorer.  Yes, that is right.  She is making her way into various parts of the sanctuary that are unknown to us Lobby cats.

Peabody and me hanging out peacefully 🙂

When Prescott and I are not together, either keeping a watchful eye on the staff and volunteers or curled up taking a little nap, she is out and about in either the Community Room or the Lobby.  Someone said that she has “dual citizenship,” whatever that means. But never fear, dear sponsors … Prescott and I are still a “couple” and spend a lot of time with each other.

But then there is Peabody (or Colonel Peabody, to use his full name!). He and I are in cahoots with each other, you might say.  You can find us batting each other in play many times during the day. Sometimes it gets a little out of hand, and the staff or volunteers have to intervene.  At times, I am the one who starts the playtime.  I will go after Peabody, and we will both run around like we are having zoomies.

At other times, I might be curled up, taking one of my many power naps, and Peabody will come along and swat me to wake me up so we can play.  Both of us instigate these sessions, and then both of us complain that one of us pawed the other one a bit too much—typical kitty shenanigans!  It just means we are good friends and that all is well here in the Lobby.

Volunteer laps were made just for me!

Health-wise, I am doing well.  I still try to steal forbidden food whenever I can.  Most of the day, I look for a good lap to rest on whenever the volunteers come to do chores.

Between all of my naps, I still have to monitor the folks who clean and give us our food and soft beds and blankies.  This supervisory stuff is hard work…

Dear sponsors, I truly appreciate all you do for me and the cats here at Tabby’s Place. I would love to have a visit from you while the summer is still here, with sunny days and warm, wafting breezes.  Then I can have a lot more laps to sit in, so I can get more pets and much love.

Enjoy the rest of your summer. Be safe and well.

Love and kitty kisses,
Hips
