Hips’ Happenings, #15
Happy April, Dear Sponsors, and Tabby’s Place Fans!

Welcome to my latest update. You will love some parts but might not like others. Please don’t be too upset with me. I’m a kitty and just can’t help myself sometimes.
So, we have had several holidays this past month and also a lot of rain. But I am safe, warm, and dry here at the sanctuary. However, some of my antics have not been so nice. There is a kitty named Marcia who lives in the Executive Director’s office, which faces the lobby but is behind a gate. Several volunteers found the two of us having a “standoff” as we both glared at each other. At one point, my ears went flat and I reared up on my hind legs and screamed. Then Marcia and I both smacked each other. Several volunteers had to intervene, but I just kept glaring at Marcia. I even got Harriet upset. Grace, one of the staff, came over and put me in my crate for a time-out. Maybe I need to play Taylor Swift”s song, “You Need to Calm Down.” It seems I have issues with some of the lady kitties–Grecca, Olive, my dear Prescott, and now Marcia. Maybe I need some sort of “supplement” like zylkene or trasadone to keep me steady. The staff here will figure it out.

On the lighter side, it is Cherish the Kitten Fund Drive time. We are hoping to get some special donations to help the kittens and their mamas. We have already had several moms at the sanctuary who have had their litters. Believe me when I tell you that there will be many more kittens who will need the help of Tabby’s Place. Some will come with their moms and some will be orphans and some will be bottle babies. So if you could find it in your heart to donate even just a dollar, it would help. I like to spend time supervising the kittens through the glass when they are in the kitten room.

My main job, of course, is to ensure that the lobby is secure. So I spend a lot of time (when I am not in trouble for harassing the lady cats), in my cat tree watching what goes on. I still supervise the volunteers to be sure our blankies, beds, and food and water bowls are down and full.
And sometimes I am on desk duty to be sure the phone is answered and visitors are greeted properly at the front door. Olive is usually stationed there but she is asleep most of the time. So much of the lobby security falls on me.

In addition to all my supervisory duties, I managed to get in some really cool playtime. I am especially good with the wand toy and love the worm at the end of it, and get very excited when visitors come and spend time with me. Of course, a nap is always in order after a super duper play session.
Other than my bouts of hissy fits, I am happy and healthy. I just take it in stride when I am a bad boy and the volunteers or staff put me in time-out in my crate. I know I will be out eventually. And I love my naps anyway.

So, dear sponsors, have a wonderful rest of April. I hope you enjoyed the eclipse if you saw it. We kitties prefer just to sleep since it will be dark and we will think it is night. But we can sure sleep during the day as well. Please come visit me here at Tabby’s Place if you can. I would love to meet you and get pets and love and many hugs.
Kitty kisses to all,
Hips
