Update for Colleen

Dear Supporters of Colleen,

For those of you who have been following the trials and tribulations of Colleen over the years, you know that she has not had an easy life. She barely escapes one malady, only to fall victim to another. One of her recurrent issues has been a highly sensitive face. Often when she’s sitting in my lap, or I attempt to pet her, she makes every attempt to rub her face against my leg or my hands. Itchy. Itchy. Sometimes she seems to be a bit better, but then some months are worse than others.

It seems that at present, to make matters worse, our dear girl is suffering from dental discomfort. If you’ve ever had need to see a dentist, you can imagine that she’s not a happy camper. At first, the good people at Tabby’s Place were attempting to control the situation with antibiotics, since Colleen has a slight anesthetic risk due to her kidney disease. But because she’s developed an infected lower molar (ouch) with some discharge — which, as you might guess, only increases the facial pawing — Colleen needs to go for a full dental.

Fortunately, Colleen is not a major anesthetic risk because her heart is in good shape. Still, rest assured, everyone will proceed with great caution and care. No one wants to see Colleen not enjoying her favorite place on the bench near the window in the sunshine.

In fact, just the other day I was visiting her, and there she was all curled up, napping. I hated to disturb her, but also didn’t want to miss the opportunity of saying hello, since I’d been absent from Tabby’s Place for two weeks myself. Immediately, she jumped up, recognized my scent, and wanted to cuddle.

Oh, yeah, I’m entirely smitten with our girl.

Thanks, as always, for your generosity. Have fun this month. We wish you glorious weather. And keep Colleen in your thoughts!
