Update for Colleen

Dear Supporters of Colleen,

“Lost in never-never land.” That’s what I immediately thought of when I spotted Colleen recently, fast asleep, atop yet another cozy blanket in front of the window in the Community Room. This is, most likely, her favorite spot when the sun is shining, and perhaps even when it is not.

That morning, on the eve of Hurricane Joaquin, the clouds were out and rain spattered against the window, but Colleen had still claimed her spot. There is a wonderful little orange staircase that leads to a blanketed perch that Colleen calls her own.

Of course, all my hugs and kisses woke her up. After she had as much loving as she could stand, Col took to gazing out the window and watching the rain and all the activity. A few other cats tried to come up and nudge Colleen off her perch, but she wouldn’t have it, and she stood her ground. Yeah!

On the medical front, there’s never a dull moment when we’re talking about Colleen. Unfortunately, she’s got yet another upper respiratory infection, which the good folks of Tabby’s Place are fighting with antibiotics. Because Colleen lost a few ounces from last month, they’ve also started her on an appetite stimulant.

But there is also good news! Colleen’s recent visit to the cardiologist yielded a positive report: her heart has improved! This is important in case it becomes necessary to put her under anesthesia for any dental work. That is not in the cards at this time, but could become an issue in the future. The doc has decided to continue Colleen’s heart medications and recheck in six months.

So, all in all, our lovely girl is doing well and enjoying the lovely fall.

We thank you, as always, for your continued generosity.
